Last turn causes crash

    Just upgraded (Nov 22, 2019) to Rise & Fall and Gathering Storm expansion packs for Nintendo Switch
    When reaching a winning turn, I had accumulated enough Culture to be the winner, the game closes because of a software problem, I started up again, (game resumes 2-3 turns before the winning turn) and this continued 3-4 times with the same result before I retired in frustration. Then I was playing Rise and Fall, got to turn 330 (at the quick speed) same thing - game closes because of a software problem.

    Just been having a similar problem when I'm about to win Domination. Really hoping that it'll work in the morning.

    Any ideas what could cause this? Any particular building, tech or civic coming online? Victory celebration video perhaps?
    I could try to make it happen too.

    It's only the one game that I've tried finishing, but regardless of which turn I finish, what I do, the error comes as soon as I give the final instruction to capture the final city.

    I'd say it has something to do with ending the game, but I don't think it's the video because it crashes before the unit fulfils the instruction. Something about the coding that triggers the endgame sequence is my guess. I'm no expert though, so I could be wrong.

    I have the same issue. Put a lot of hours in the game, only to find out that a bug prevents me from the victory!!
    Has anyone found a solution yet?

    I also just realized I cannot finish my first post-expansion game, which was a huge map on a higher difficulty so I want to get my HoF entry...

    Edit: I tried another game, quickly tried to win by domination on difficulty 1 on a duel size map. This time it worked fine. So it is possible to get to the victory screen... maybe larger maps are the issue?

    So a possible workaround for the bug:

    Declare war on the offending nation on as the very last act before ending the turn upon which you win. But difficult if you're going for a Culture Victory, but at least Domination is doable, I guess.

    How this got past QA I don't know, it would have been obvious since it seems to occur in every game according to this article.

    I have finished two games already and I havent had problems. Its not 100%.

    Do we know the rough % of games that will crash? Apparently it's not 100%, but I can't bring myself to play another full game only to find it crashes, so odds of that happening would be good.

    More pragmatically, does anyone know if there's a fix yet?

    Were the games that you successfully finished "small" games? As in small map, lower turn count, fewer civs, something like that? I was able to finish a quick duel game that I did just as a test and only took maybe 30 turns, but couldn't finish my real game which was 10 civs on a huge map that took 200 turns.

    I always play on online speed, that might have something to do with it? Otherwise I use standard settings.

    So the games that still work seem to be small maps.
    That suggests that the problem might be too heavy a burden processing the data, which obviously increases with larger maps, more civs or it just makes it more likely that a critical element is involved.
    Who was everyone playing as and who were they playing against in the games that crashed?
    I was playing as Curtin and the civ that crashes the game is US.

    I'm on a small map and can't complete my game, it crashes very late in game

    Question - how do you know which civ causes the crash? I have asked 2K help desk and get no answer to that question

    We dont know the reason. But they are working on it.

    You have to watch the units move, from that you can determine on which civ's turn it crashes.
    I haven't done it personally, so I'm unsure how exactly it works. Say there are 4 AI civ's, Monty, Cleo, Vicky and Alex in that order. Monty moves, then Cleo does, so we know Monty is fine. It then crashes, but before Vicky moves any units. We know it definitely isn't Alex because it wasn't his turn yet and we've already discounted Monty. So either it is Cleo and it crashed mid turn, or it's Vicky and it crashed before she managed to do anything. Additionally, if you look at the small portraits while the turns are processing, the current AI that is executing their turn has their portrait flash. I don't know how easy it is to be certain which AI (it could crash before the problem AI actually does anything) is the problem, but you can narrow it down to two using those methods and possibly even get a good hint as to who it is.

    Hope that helps a little.

    Just got a patch for Civ VI switch. Perhaps it's about this issue? I suppose it's time to give it another shot.

    So I just tried finishing a game that it wouldn't let me finish previously due to the glitch, seems to work!

    Yep I did the same. Huge map scotland, won science victory.
