Not sure exactly when it started but recently, I noticed that my iMac is running very hot when playing Civ 6

Installed iStat Menus and it's reporting that my CPUs are pretty much maxed out around 210+ F; GPU is around similar temp.

This is mostly when the map itself is visible; things cool down a fair amount when a leader is on screen.

    What are others' experiences?

Your mac is going to overclock itself to keep up with the game's demands, but so long as you're not obstructing the fan, you shouldn't have many issues.

Interestingly, mine is the opposite, with leaders putting greater demand, at least on my GPU, than the map screen.

Turns out that the intake vents were a little dusty - once I cleaned them out, temps dropped like 30-40 F
