One of three nearly simultaneous bomb blasts Friday was in Varanasi, where nine were killed and more than 45 wounded.
All took place in Uttar Pradesh, Indias most populous state.
The first blast occurred at 1:15 p.m. in the state capital, Lucknow, just outside the entrance to the city courthouse, near a bicycle stand used by lawyers. No one was killed, but television stations broadcast images of lawyers, dressed in the formal uniform of the legal profession, black suits, high collars and white ties, fleeing the area.
At least two more explosions went off within five minutes. One was outside the courts in Varanasi, a city holy to Hindus, killing nine people and wounding more than 45. Another went off in Faizabad, again near the entrance to the courts, killing four and wounding at least 14, an official at the police control room in Lucknow said by telephone.
The Indian government blamed militants trying to incite tensions between Indias Hindu and Muslim communities. But the death toll included several lawyers, and there was also speculation that a recent decision by lawyers in Uttar Pradesh not to defend terrorism suspects might have played a role.
Apparently the UP(state) bar association's decision not to defend terrorist suspects in courts made them target .
Is it a right decision by the bar association not to defend terrorist suspects in courts ? .
Either way after this act I don't think they have a chance of legal representation in India atleast .
