In another thread, i asked if there was any interest in extended Leader lists based on the discussion of the thread, and received a response indicating that:
Based on this, I will be posting some lists of Leaders and some ideas for Cities that I have worked up over the years for some of my mods. Some of the Leader lists are longer than others, based on the information that I have in my library. I will be using the names that I am most familiar with, and if some of the non-US members use other spellings, that is fine and I would welcome their sharing of them. However, I will tend to stay with the spellings that I have used. Generally, for Leaders, I will be listing those that were historically important, competent or better, characterize the Civilization (this for the Scandinavians, aka Vikings), or I have some respect for. For example:
George Armstrong Custer does not make my cut, George B. McClellan I am ambivalent about (excellent organizer, borderline at best as a combat commander, so does not make cut so far), George Thomas aka "The Rock of Chickamauga" is on the list.
I also will include Naval Officers and some political leaders as well. Winston Churchill is on the British List. Gamal Nasser and Arabi Pasha are on the Egyptian list.
I will also toss in some City ideas, as for some civilizations, the game is a bit strange when it comes to cities, Greece being an example. Troy is a Greek city, as in Marathon and Thermopylae. Hmm, the last two were Battle sites. Not thrilled with Salamanca for the Iroquois either.
Having said all of that, here is a list for the Iroquois, ranging from King Philip to the very unfortunate Black Kettle.
Iroquois Leaders: King Philip, Cornplanter, Tecumseh, Powhatan, Osceola, Thayendanegea (aka Joseph Brant), The Prophet (Tecumseh's brother), Black Hawk, Red Cloud, Roman Nose. Quanah Parker, Satanta, Sitting Bull, Crazy Horse, Geronimo, Mangas Colorado, Cochise, Vitorio, Chief Joseph, Looking Glass, and Black Kettle.
Iroquois Science Leaders: Seqoyah, Squanto, Wovoka
Beginning Greek Leader List (for Conquests only, the Play the World list is different): Pyrrhus, Agamemnon, Nestor, Menelaus, Achilles, Ajax, Odysseus, Diomede, Leonidas, Themistocles, Epaminondas, Philip of Macedon (Alexander's Father), Mithridates, Pericles, Pausanias, Xenophon.
Possible Greek Cities to replace the odd ones: Thebes, Pylos, Tiryns, Ithaca.
More to come.
Cities, leaders, ... lists are always good to have.
