Leader and Religion

When playing a particular leader, do you almost always go for the same religion, or do you try different ones? For example, whenever I play the pirates or the insane jester I almost always make them exclusively Octopus Overlords. In fact, the insane jester leader is so fanatical about it, he has launched a crusade of cultists, and is making a temple of the overlords in every city in the world!!

I typically play a certain religion with certain civs. All civs and religions have synergies which makes it fun to play them together. However, it is occasionally fun to switch to an Order Calabim or Esus Kuriorates.

Make sure to get slave trade. It's awesome on archipelago maps. You don't have to build workers for each landmass or build ships to transport them, just pay for a slave.

best part is, you don't even need to be CoE, you jsut need to found the council

Slaves are also very useful for when the blight comes.

I play svartalfar with FoL, but nevertheless I try to found CoE. Once during a Golden Age I was changing into CoE for 8 turns (no anarchy). I was spreading CoE to all my 5 cities in this period. Didnt had much impact. So I will stay in FoL next time, but just get the Undercouncil running.

The only ones I do exclusively are Khazad and RoK, Ljosfalar with FoL, and (obviously) Infernals with AV.

Found it, convert to it, and build a unit in an Esus city. It may randomly have the Esus religion, if so, you can move it to another city, pay 25 gold and it will spread to that city without wasting the unit. You can use the free nightwatch for this too. Only problem is, if you don't found it, you have to wait for it to spread to you naturally before you can do this, since spreading it requires that you have it as your religion.
