(Now serious) I really question the time investment, even if it only took five minutes, to splice the three "accept trade deal" animations (thanks @Zaarin) together into such an underwhelming video. Even five minutes of work was not worth it.

Oof! I’m still pretty forgiving overall because it’s essentially free content for a game I never thought would get anything else…

…buuut it’s unusual to see them spend that goodwill on what’s essentially nothing. You can roll out a thumb full of dough as thin as you like but it’s not going to produce any more food.

I have to concur that there are probably some last minute PANIC stations from our dear junior developers

I think the theme of this marketing campaign is "underwhelm at every turn". Sort of the opposite of Shock and Awe.

So initial roll out we had two instances of conflicting marketing info over abilities.

I'm thinking the lack of "first looks" might be because the abilities are being tested/finalized very close to release. While the animations and voice work were finished a while ago.

Yes, this is likely -- the only problem is that the animations and voice work aren't particularly thrilling.

I'll stop complaining now, I promise. 🤐

I think the issue is that we get NOTHING.

THey should've done a NFP style teaser

"Ethiopia is back, and has bonuses connected to Trade Routes and Faith". And that lets us speculate at what it could be at the VERY LEAST.

Not entirely true -- we DID get to see all three move their arms. That is not nothing.

yeah, even with the very very first official images we got of the leaders of china there was an issue with yongle having nader's background, so maybe yongle's background wasnt even finished then??
really seeming like they might just be running up against the clock to get all this assembled together in time. i think i would honestly rather they just push back the deadlines, say theyre moving their end goal for releasing the whole pack by april and just move the marketing/releases back a week or two. even more than that id like it if they just revealed more info early while being open about it being provisional abilities that they might change still before release. both of those i consider better than the current way theyre handling it, imho

It's funny that everyone is jumping on the idea that all of these issues indicate that everything is being completed at the last minute and rushed.

My assumption was that this stuff just isn't being given high priority by the greater team so they aren't being afforded the resources they need to ensure better quality control. Even with sufficient time, if you don't have a seasoned team doing this promotional stuff, or if communication internally is lacking for whatever reasons, issues like this pop up.

I guess either one is just as likely.

It seems like Chinese New Year is the hard deadline for this pack, so they can't really be pushed too much more.

While it's now unlikely we see a livestream tomorrow, there have been a few instances in the past where they did one after a pack release. There's also been several livestreams that were done on Fridays and even a couple on a Saturday IIRC. So, there is still a (small) possibility that they could do one this week or even early next week.

The past two packs have dropped at 1pm ET, so we can assume the same. As stated above the FL is scheduled to drop at 1pm ET as well, which also mirrors the previous two packs.
