Learn from other's mistakes, Sid...(sensible suggestions)

it's an axiom, that adding more concepts to the gameplay will increase the steepness of the learning curve and learning time.

One or the other, but not necessarily both, no ?

this is inherently a bad thing, unless complexity is one of the key game features :D.

Seems to be it to me.

reading through a 50 A4 page civilopedia or a pdf manual is not fun.

..you're weird.

Well , my opinion is that Civ V should have , not more, not less, not the same, but diferent complexity than Civ IV has ;)

Civ IV, especially in it's BtS form, has a lot of features that could clearly get a notch down in terms of complexity to use. Espionage is one of them , Corporations other ... OTOH I believe that adding some complexity in some areas ( like the Economy ... to say the truth there is no economy in Civ IV :D ) would make a better game.

it is not. because, if it was, then civ4 should have been more complex in order to live up to this "key feature".

And this is precisely why Civ 4, to use a technical term, sucks cold potato soup, and why I mostly play Civ 3.
