Hello everyone! After the failure in the last game, I've decided to give another game a shot.
Settings are standard Pangea with medium sea level and huts/events off.

Aims for the Game
-Better worker management; avoid wasting worker turns when possible
-Specialise economy better than in the previous game.
-Use the bulbing preferences to my advantage to get to Lib and various techs faster
-Utilise whipping to its full potential because of Monty's UB
-Following above, CoL and CS will be a priority because most of my lands should be farmed.
-Use Spiritual to my advantage to give in to demands as well as change civics according to the situation
-Generate at least 4 great scientists pre Lib.
-Settle compactly whilst minimising loss of optimisation of cities.
-Specialise cities better and earlier on

Pretty nice start so far. I did generate a couple of times so I could get riverside access. That's because I really want to be able to cottage my capital to get full use of Beauro.

Initial Thoughts:
SIP seems like a strong move. I think I will place city two on the wine and let it work the cottages that I build whilst letting the capital grow.
Worker first obviously and research Agri maybe.

15 cottage 3 food capital. I must say that is a nice capital, but if the surrounding land is crap we will need to smash the puny AI.

I think research Agri is rather weak here, cos you can go AH with hunting and cover 2 better tiles.
You always have barbs in your neck on Deity early, and Agri helps zip with those ;)

Looks a strong start. Plenty of land to cottage. You could in theory cottage the corn too. You will need to build the 2nd city very close to share one of those resources.

Early Ah sounds sound as you need barb defences. I think on deity you often have to sacrifice some early techs.

Definately worker first.

Nice start. I'd settle 1W of your current location for the extra riverside tiles + additional space for later cities to share the the heavy :food: tiles.

There isn't really any good reason to settle 1W. You don't really gain that much, besides you are better off putting another city on the wine or desert hill than wasting a FP.

Capital looks production weak though, and mined pigs are still good tiles. Maybe agriculture, mining, archery and then wheel pottery wouldn't be so bad.

Hmm..AH does seem to make sense actually.

I was just thinking Agri because I do have a food source, and at the same time it would make AH cheaper as well. But the point about barbs is definitely true!

Two corns and two grass hill pigs.

Does make Agri seem slightly more tempting, but the barbs are still offputting
Lack of production may be a future issue with just one mine, however, this city will be a great worker and settler pump at size 4! Only 5 FP's so just 2 unhealth.

You don't have horses in your capital.

What's the advantage of settling on the wines rather than the desert hill? The ability to work one more FP cottage for the capital?

+1 commerece off the bat because of the wine.

usually too late, you really just want to settle city 2 asap at the wine and start growing cottages for your capital.

Hmm..will just wait for some further input before I continue. Definitely right about city 2 ASAP though
Thanks for the advice though, really appreciate it!

Ah, right. I used to know that!

Anyway, i think Ag > Mining > BW/Archery makes sense. Farm the corn, mine the pigs. That's the only way you are going to get any production in the cap before BW.

Also, unless I'm mistaken, you are guaranteed not to have any strategic resources in your BFC, so at the very least you would need a 2nd city before you could defend yourself. And if you completely miss on horses (which looks very possible), you are in a bit of a bad situation. You would have a lot to research and little to nothing for your worker to do for quite awhile.

I don't typically play Diety though, so I'll defer to those with more experience.

By settling on wine you get one more green hill, and less unworkable tiles.

I would not be debating where to settle the second city yet! You have not even explored the local area yet.

The wine site should not be your second city. You are going to want to push out a little more than that at first. Although if you went Agr -> Bw and it has copper I would settle it ASAP. Hmm with the second corn Agri -> BW -> Pottery seems a lot stronger.

Agri - mining looks better now yep..lots depends on how comfortable you are with agg warris vs. barbs, how fast you meet AIs so you can judge how much land around you for barbs..archery after mining might be needed, you will have no chance connecting copper before the rush.
