Welcome to the Jungle.....

The Ancestors of the Persian people lived a semi-nomadic existence, in the jungles that straddled the Continental divide of Azania & Australia, obtaining sustenance from the rivers & trees of that mountain valley.

In time, however, a group of these Ancestral Persians decided that they wished to wander no more. One man, in particular, had visions of a Great Settlement-amidst the Jungle-that would be at the Epicenter of a Great Empire. So it was that this man, known in the local dialect as Cyrus the Deathless, took these former nomads into the foothills of Mount Alam-Kuh, near the head-waters of the Shahrood River, & built there a small group of Mud-brick huts. The largest & most grand of these huts was set aside for Cyrus & his family, as the Ruler of this new, ramshackle village that the people called Pasagarde.

Getting the Lie of the Land.....

Cyrus was a wise leader, & realized that it was important to know what lay beyond the jungles his people had called home for generations. So he tasked his most skilled hunters with the task of exploring the lands south of the jungle. It wasn't long before these hunters came across a tiny encampment, filled with former members of their own tribe, who clearly got lost prior to the founding of the settlement of Pasargadae. One of the hunting band chose to lead these lost tribes people back to civilization, helping to further boost the population of the already growing settlement.

Whilst the hunters traveled the lands, the people of Pasargadae turned their minds to the construction of more durable dwellings for the growing populace, as well as the construction of sturdier tools, for a variety of day-to-day activities. It was well known that many of the foothills surrounding the Shahrood river were made of extremely hard materials, ones which were almost impervious to any of the tools the Persian people currently possessed. So the artisans of Pasargadae went to work, trying to fashion tools that would allow them to get deep down into the surrounding hills.

Meanwhile, the far-roaming hunter band had exited the jungle, & found rolling grasslands, deciduous forests & hills, as far as the eye could see. What was particularly amazing to them, however, was when they reached the top of one group of hills, & looked out on the widest body of water any of them, or even their ancestors, had ever seen. To their South they could see a shallow, sandy bay......but to the north the land ended in harsh, upthrust cliffs....taller than the tallest trees. The scene filled them with both awe & dread, but for now they decided to turn away from this sight & push back inland....
