I think that Hitler is an evil guy. No person in his sane mind would want to play as Hitler. It is good that, in the interest of historical inaccuracy, he has been removed from the official WWII scenario that ships with the game.

He's not in it because he's evil - arguably some leaders in the game were evil too - but because he's just not good enough. He was a terrible leader. Completely useless.

The scenario is not an official Firaxis scenario. It's a fan mod that they deemed worthy of shipping with BtS. Also nazi stuff is banned in Germany and I'm sure Firaxis didn't want to lose sales in Germany over something like that.

Agreed. He's both EVIL and BAD. It hardly gets any worse than that. I am glad he's not in.

I wouldnt want to play as him.... but I'd be more than happy to play against him.

Personally, in a historical simulation (like the mod is) I'd rather see historical reality... but the commercial reality takes precedence.

Even Dale, the maker of the mod said it. Simply, with nazi paraphenalia and Hitler, it wouldn't have been allowed to be sold in Germany, thereby losing thousands of sales.

Personally, while I dont blame Dale (he had no choice) or Firaxis (they didnt have much choice and they certainly had to adhere to commercial requirements)... I still find historical revisionism very distasteful..... if we hide the negative facts of the past, how can we ensure that they aren't repeated?

Its the German laws that kept him from being added. I believe Dale (the designer of Road to War) has provided an un-offical patch that adds Hitler as a leader.

I don't mean to offend anyone around here, but has anybody else noticed that topics that have divided the community around here before BtS was released (Hitler, Poland, the HRE, etc.) are now continually brought up again and again by members who joined this month or the previous month and have a very limited amount of posts?

Again, this isn't meant to insult anybody, just a little observation on my part. I keep getting this feeling there are trolls about.. Anyway, as far as I'm concerned, there are plenty of other threads to discuss this (and many other controversial subjects) in, so I'm not going to participate any further..

EDIT: When I look at what other topics you've engaged in and the comments you've left, Poppa Candy, they're all about how awful BtS is, then about how people should discuss anything BUT Poland, and so on and so forth.. It seems to me you're trying to get flamed and are indeed trolling these forums..

well no more evil than lets say stalin it been argued that he killed more jews over his reign of horror than hitler ever did but the iron curtain stoped us from seeing that also stalin always accused the the jews of conspiring against him. stalin will and always be more evil than hitler becaused he lived longer .so for history sake he should be in the game or take stalin out.but just for laws sake dont include him in the german version

^ Exactly! Stalin is probably as evil as Hitler...But because of popular sentiments and commercial reasons, Hitler can only be in the game by using a fan mod.
