Level III Magic

First of all, Big Thanks to the team for this great mod..

I just wonder how the other players use level III magic.. and hope some suggestions..

In my case, I usually prefer Domination(Mind III) and Wonder(Chaos III).
The others.. well.. they are actually summoning some creatures(or elementals), and not as powerful as the two. It seems so, at least to me.

(I've read a documentation about magic in the Kael's FAQ, but, is it somewhat different in the actual game? e.g. the documentation says about "Meteo Swarm" as Fire III arcane magic, but in the game, I have "summoning fire elemental" as Fire III.)

Ice 3 is amazing. Of course, its also harder to get than most...

Death 3 allows Lichdom, which is also awesome.

Thre magic tree used to have two branches Sorcery and Summoning. A while back Kael merged them together (mostly removed Tier 2 summoning and Tier 3 Sorcery). Meteor Swarm was the Fire 3 spell (and one of the best in the game) but was removed.

Meteor Swarm was Fire III spell in Fire phase (FFH < 0.30), when normal magic and summonig were separated as two types (there were summoners and mages, now we have only the mage).
Death III - summon Wraith is the best summonig spell, especially if you have a few death mana nodes :) Of course if you don`t like the dark art, choose Sun III: summon Aurelis .

I find that Air Elementals' sheer movement range makes them really handy when I have them available. The lightning spawns used to be pretty entertaining too.

Having tried Wonder last game, I wasn't quite as impressed as I might have been, but it's a fun spell.

Spirit 3, Trust, is actually a really nice bonus whenever I get it, but since I'm usually shooting for a Culture or Altar win when that happens I can imagine why more conquest-inclined players might not like it much.
 
Late game meta-magic III gives some very powerful djinn I find (since i tend to have lots of mana).

Domination is a great spell, especially in late game when you can exceed your National limit on Tier IV units by dominating barbs and enemy units.

However, it is also the only one with a negative possibility, I think, - that you can lose this ability. You use to lose the caster, so it is a bit better, but still, it does happen.

Could someone please tell me the % chance of losing your domination ability, and is it affected by the unit you are attempting to dominate? For example, a hero unit or a unit with magic resist?
 
Wonder is amazing, especially with Twincast... I've managed to devestate entire nations with one lone archmage.

I did the same with the CoE hero... Who is attainible MUCH earlier. With the one "downside" of illusions...
Ya just send a few units you wana get xp(Past 100 even) on with him... Or have him level to "Holywtf?"

I agree with that.. but isn't it one-time-only spell? I'm not sure about this, but I remember I could not cast it again after I used it once in my last game..

Oh.. thanks for the info.. I played this mod since the very last version.. so still learning much..
 
Summon Wraith is a great summon spell. But not against Treants. They are immune to Death damage. Same for Golems and angels and other elemtal summons. So watch out for those.
 
Recommend a mod move this to the strategy sub-forum.

It is, but I rarely have a problem with the idea of having one archmage sit around with various "I stand in a city and make it better" spells, so I don't really mind.
 
Recharge Spellstaff is not a one time spell. You can recast it as many times as you like, if you lose it, when having Enchantment III. The spellstaff promotion from the Amurite's Mages is lost after casting it once.

If you want Meteor Swarm now, I'm afraid you're going to have to capture Acheron.
