Queensland, widely considered the worst Australian state, suddenly bans people under 18 from newly starting blockers or hormones pending another "review". Existing patients aren't impacted. They already recently did an independent review like last year, which concluded the normal expected things rather than being a Cass type stitch up.

This is probably the first policy example of anti trans brainrot from the UK and US reaching official policy in Australia. It's notably the most newly elected Liberal Party government, and one which also has some sort of intention to reopen settled law on abortion.

Per Equality Australia:

In a statement, advocacy group Equality Australia expressed concern over the decision, and said it made Queensland an "outlier state".

"This will be catastrophic for young trans people and their families when the evidence on the benefits of hormone treatments is clear and well established," Equality Australia CEO Anna Brown said.

"This move is at odds with the current evidence base, expert consensus, health services in all other Australian states and territories and the majority of clinical guidelines around the world."

If I wasn't clear: it would not be that hard to allow for a neuter sex on such government documents. now I hope you won't prompt me again. thx.

Yeah, it wouldn't be hard, if they hadn't just declared that male and female are the only allowed options for sex because gender identity and intersex doesn't real

They certainly seem to have dropped any "untested experimental treatment" BS in favor of us all just being perverted lying scumbags. Well except for trans kids, who have clearly been manipulated into not wanting to provide sperm or give birth or breastfeed their eventual children.

I suppose I may end up being an interesting test case - an obviously trans woman, but legally 100% transitioned with a really excellent aftermarket vagina using a woman's restroom. Like, please demonstrate your legal justification for dragging me out, officer. I'm happy to give you a look at my driver's license, or birth certificate, or naked crotch, if it'll help.

A high-profile anti-trans campaigner who signed a letter last week calling for a federal inquiry into trans healthcare for children and a pause on gender affirming treatment until the inquiry is complete has had an apprehended violence order taken out against her by a trans woman.

In a December appeal ruling published last week, the NSW district court granted an AVO against Kirralie Smith, the spokesperson for anti-trans group Binary. The court ordered her not to assault, threaten, stalk, harass, intimidate, approach or contact the woman until December 2026. Smith also must not approach two mid-north coast football clubs for the same period.

Trans families consider leaving U.S. after Trump's re-election

Fear over bathroom bills, loss of health-care funding forcing families to make tough decisions

Barbara Fowler has a go bag in the trunk of her car. In it are her family's documents, burner phones, clothes, medications and an address of a house in Canada — ready, should her family need to flee their country.

Fowler lives in the United States.

Her daughter is one of the 1.6 million American citizens who identify as transgender — one in five of which are between the ages of 13 and 17, according to the Williams Institute think-tank at the University of California, Los Angeles.

Donald Trump's re-election as president has filled Fowler with extraordinary anxiety.

"I cry and I rage and I carry so much fear for my family," said Fowler, who asked CBC News not to use her real name, location or the name of her daughter. "I don't know with this administration what will happen."

Fowler, like many parents of transgender children in the U.S., has been reeling after Trump took office a few weeks ago. In his inauguration speech, the president said, "As of today, it will henceforth be the official policy of the United States government that there are only two genders: male and female."

The statement makes it illegal for transgender Americans to mark an X on their passports and other documentation. The marker was previously allowed for people who identify as non-binary, intersex, transgender or gender non-conforming while their documents go through the process of being updated to reflect their affirmed genders.

In a series of executive orders signed in his first days as president, Trump also halted funding for gender-affirming health care and ordered federal employees to remove preferred pronouns from their signatures, measures that could come into effect in as soon as 60 days.

"My daughter is beautiful, she has great friends, she plays the clarinet, she is so happy," said Fowler. "And now we are in limbo, because we don't know if she'll be able to continue to get the medical care she needs to transition or use the washroom in her school she feels comfortable in.

Fowler says her daughter came out to her and her husband at the age of 11, telling them she never felt comfortable in her own body. Fowler admits she struggled with the revelation at first and cried for months knowing the path ahead would be difficult for her daughter. But not supporting her was never an option.

"We always told her that if she changed her mind, we'd understand," Fowler said. "But she never wavered. She just knew who she was and deep down, we did, too."

The clinic in the Midwest town where Fowler's daughter receives care is currently deciding how and if they will continue to operate once government funding is pulled. In the meantime, Fowler has identified a clinic in Canada that could treat her daughter, if it comes to that.

Fowler isn't the only American parent of a trans child contemplating a move to Canada.

Canadian law firm getting dozens of calls a day

Joycna Kang, an immigration lawyer in Toronto, says that since the inauguration, she has fielded dozens of calls from trans Americans inquiring how they could move here.

"Most of them are scared, wondering if they can claim asylum here," Kang said. "Typically, those claims have been hard, because what you have to prove is that the state is unwilling or unable to protect you and that there's nowhere else in your country that you can go and live safely. Now, with these changes that have been happening and these orders that have been passed down, I think we're seeing a much clearer picture of the [U.S.] state being the agent of persecution."

A year and a half ago, Kelli, who also asked that CBC not use her surname, moved her family of six from Florida to Minnesota over concerns for the safety of her 22-year-old trans son, Ollie. After settling in her new community, she now fears she'll have to move again, this time out of the country, and has looked at Canada as a possibility.

"It's traumatizing to be uprooted from everything you've known," Kelli said. "The kids made friends. They've gotten into their activities. They're settling in, and so the night of the election, my 11-year-old, sweet kiddo, starts crying and she's like, 'Does this mean we're going to have to move again?'"

Kelli and Ollie are community activists, both committed to improving the lives of members of the LGBTQ community where they live. Kelli says if her son can't receive the hormone therapy medications he needs, she wouldn't hesitate to move her family again. The fact she is even considering moving again shocked even her.

"How is this the United States of America?" Kelli asked. "The words come out of my mouth and in my head I'm like, this can't be real, this can't be right. It's so bizarre … the most powerful country in the world and its citizens are looking for asylum in other countries. Make it make sense. It's so dystopian."

Stuck in passport limbo

Americans already living in Canada are also affected by the president's orders towards the trans community. Those living here who don't yet have their affirmed genders on their passports fear that crossing the border could pose a problem.

Elliott Duvall is a trans man from Arkansas currently living in London, Ont. He moved here in 2016 to marry his wife. He hasn't been home to see his family in more than five years because his passport still lists his gender as female, even though he presents and lives as a male.

"To hand over my passport to the border guards is terrifying," said Duvall. "I would be terrified that I would get pulled into secondary questioning and I'd have to go into the immigration area, even though I'm still a U.S. citizen, and they're just gonna question me down to the bone. And I don't think I'd mentally be able to handle that, to be honest. I would just cry."

Duvall has siblings he hasn't seen in years. He missed his brother's wedding and the births of several nieces and nephews over fears of crossing the border.

His mother is now ill but too afraid to have Duvall come visit her.

"My mom, she wants me to come desperately," he said. "We were going to try to make it for Christmas, all of us. And she said, 'Don't come.' And that's hard. It's hard when my mom, who you know, watches the news, when she's like, 'Don't come, because it's not safe,' that's really hard."

Kang says people like Duvall have reason for concern.

"When we speak of Canadians with the X marker on their passport trying to cross into the U.S., we don't really know what that's going to look like," she said. "We don't know if that just means increased scrutiny at the border or if it means a denial of entry or potentially confiscation of those documents."

Duvall also fears having to drive through some states where bathroom bills would make it illegal for him to use a men's public restroom.

"If I were to use the washroom in Arkansas and there was a minor — so anyone under the age of 16 — in there at the same time, then I could be arrested, put in jail for 30 days, fined $1,500 and then I'd have to register as a sex offender for the rest of my life."

Duvall simply isn't willing to take that risk.

Fowler and Kelli are also waiting to see how Trump's executive orders will directly impact their lives. They both say they will stay in the U.S. as long as their kids get the health care they need and aren't in danger.

"At the end of the day, you just want your child to be happy and healthy," said Fowler. "That's what every parent wants, and we are no different."

5 people in upstate New York charged with murder after allegedly torturing, killing Minnesota transgender man

CNN —
Five people have been arrested in New York and charged in connection with the disappearance and murder of a 24-year-old transgender man from Minnesota, whom police say was tortured and abused for weeks before his death.

New York State Police launched a missing persons investigation for Sam Nordquist on February 9, following a welfare check request from his family, according to a news release Friday.

Human remains believed to be those of Nordquist were discovered on February 13 in a field in Yates County, about 50 miles southeast of Rochester. Law enforcement officials then discovered evidence suggesting that Nordquist “was subjected to ongoing physical abuse” between December 2024 and February 2025, according to the release. “Sam was subjected to repeated acts of violence and torture in a manner that ultimately led to his death,” Capt. Kelly Swift with the New York State Police said at a Friday news conference.

His body was moved “in an attempt to conceal the crime,” Swift added. Swift described the case as “one of the most horrific crimes” she has ever investigated in her 20-year law enforcement career.

Five people, ranging in age from 19 to 38, have been arrested and charged with second-degree murder with depraved indifference, according to the release. Police identified the suspects as Precious Arzuaga, 38; Jennifer A. Quijano, 30; Kyle Sage, 33; Patrick A. Goodwin, 30; and Emily Motyka, 19.

Investigators are still working to understand the relationships between the five suspects and Nordquist, according to Swift. CNN has reached out to the attorneys of the suspects for comment.

The suspects were arraigned Friday morning and are being held at the Ontario County Jail without bail, Ontario County District Attorney Jame Ritts said at the news conference. Each suspect could face anywhere from 15 years to life in prison if convicted, Ritts said.
The Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office will perform an autopsy to determine how Nordquist died, according to New York State Police.

Nordquist traveled to New York in September to meet an “online girlfriend,” according to a verified GoFundMe set up by his family. Nordquist’s friends and family hadn’t heard from him since January 1, according to the fundraiser. Investigators haven’t ruled out classifying the murder as a hate crime or making additional arrests, Swift said Friday.

“The facts and the circumstances of this crime are beyond depraved,” Ritts said. “No human being should have to endure what Sam endured.” In 2023, there were 35 homicides of “transgender or gender-expansive people,” according to a report from Everytown for Gun Safety Support Fund.

Several Rochester City Council members expressed their condolences to Nordquist’s family and their support for the transgender community in a joint news release.

“Our Trans and LGBTQIA+ residents are, and have always been, integral to the fabric of our communities,” reads the release from councilmembers Mary Lupien, Stanley Martin, and Kim Smith.

What the actual ****.

Too many freaks emboldened by trump and a lack of desire to protect trans people by the general cis population
abusive rapists and terrible people generally can target trans folk more easily because they won't be taken seriously by the cops.

That what I think it is, But I'm just guessing

My personal experience is that they aren't, sometimes the cops even join in.

That's one of the nastiest things about the current political climate it just subjects trans folks to abuse with no recourse whatsoever. It's absolutely disgusting.

The Right has openly been demanding the extermination of all LGBT people for years now, no surprise. These people won't stop unless they are made to.

Excerpt from the court case involving Trump's executive order on all the sex/gender nonsense:

isYNsoJ.jpeg

Judge Reyes: EO 14183 adopts the definitions of a separate executive order called Defending Women from Gender Ideology, Extremism and Restoring biological Truth to the federal government. And that EO states, "sex shall refer to an individual's immutable biological classification as either male or female." And it states that, "it is the policy of the United States to recognize two sexes, male and female." Do you see that or do you remember that?

Jason C. Lynch: I will take the court's word for it.

Judge Reyes: You understand, as a matter of biology, it's just incorrect that there are only two sexes, right?

Jason C. Lynch: Do I understand that to be incorrect as a biological matter?

Judge Reyes: Yes. It is incorrect as a biological matter. You understand that, right?

Jason C. Lynch: I don't understand that to be incorrect.

Judge Reyes: You understand that not everyone has an xx or an xy chromosome, right?

Jason C. Lynch: Honestly, no, I don't.

Judge Reyes: It's actually kind of a really important point because this executive order is premised on an assertion that's not biologically correct. There are anywhere near about 30 different intersex examples. So someone who does not have just xx or xy chromosome is not just male or female. They're intersex. And there are over 30 potential different intersex examples. We've got genetic differences. We have people with xxx chromosomes. We have androgen insensitivity, xy genetically, that may have female external sex characteristics and internally have testes. There's a five alpha reductase deficiency that causes changes in testosterone metabolism, xy that may have female external genitalia or ambiguous genitalia. The point being, and I'm happy to have you guys brief this more if you want, but I'm telling you right now that there are people who are neither male or female. And so the premise of the executive order is just incorrect.

Oh that judge is getting arrested aren't they

based on (and linked to in the article)

Notably (from the NBC story, as it doesn't show in the Gallup blurb and I presume it's in the pay-for actual Gallup survey results):

The percentage of U.S. adults who are transgender continues to be very small, at 1.3%, according to the Gallup report. Generation Z is more likely than any other generation to identify as trans, at 4.1%, compared to 1.7% of millennials, 0.6% of Generation X, 0.2% of baby boomers and less than 0.1% for those 80 and older.

So presumably the overall percentage will eventually level out above 4%.
