VERSION 2 IS COMPLETE.

My newest leaderhead (by order of release, I finished this guy before Leopoldo), Francisco Franco of Spain.

I know there are a few Francos out there, but they seem to be mostly reskinned napoleons.

Includes 2 versions: one with a beret and another with his cap.

No offense, but I think Niknaks's is better.

That's totally fine. I acknowledge I'm not that great at this. I gots to practice, you know?

EDIT: I also want to say I'm not totally satisfied with it either. I think it looks too much like napoleon. I put the hat on so it looks less like napoleon.

I like what you've done here. If I were a leaderhead maker, this would have been one of my first priorities. I especially like your use of all the medals.

The hat is a problem, but I've seen pictures of him wearing a standard military cap on occasion. A flattened retexture of Stalin's (perhaps taken from the Idi Amin leaderhead) could be just what you need.

Other nitpicks:
- The sash doesn't quite match up with the shoulder; this could be solved in part with an epaulette.
- There seems to be no neck currently.
- The uniform needs to have a few little parts removed like the gold on the shoulders and the DeGaul medals. I'm not sure how much of this is texturing and how much is modeling, but it was done for Castro by Bernie14 some time back.
- The uniform could be retextured more of a tan color to match photos and make it more distinct from DeGaul's, which would probably appear in the same scenarios.

All in all though, much better in my view than the previous version. I just couldn't take that retextured Napoleon uniform seriously next to all of our more recent leaderheads. Thanks, and good luck on your polishing.

Edit: Here's a picture that may help you out. He's older in it, but it's probably an easier uniform design than some of the earlier ones.

Most of these are easily fixable problems. Right now, this is Franco v.1. I'll see how well I can fix him. Or rather re-make him.

One more thing: If you need a beret, Saddam Hussein has one.

Edit: The links to the leaderhead itself seem to have died, but it is included in Grave's mod History in the Making, along with a preview picture in that thread.

:wallbash: I knew I had seen a beret somewhere!

I'll probably use a beret instead of Stalin's hat, as I don't particularly like it.

also if your concerned about the "empty space on the hat" there is a way around that in nifskope. click on the node for the hat. then right click and choose attach property" then choose stencil property. this allows both sides of a polygon to be textured (the same texture on both sides)

Ekmek is a genius. :worship:

Good news everyone!

Franco v2 is looking awesome. I'll include 2 versions in the download: one with a beret and one with this hat.

I'll probably upload tonight or tomorrow.

I'd make the mustache a bit more prominent, and darken his skin tone a bit just so it looks a bit less like Napoleon. I'd also give him grey hair. Once you do that and fix the cap (you might want to add that "Star" medallion to it by the way) it should look pretty good. You MIGHT want to give the sash a more "Spanish" look by adding a yellow stripe down the middle. It may not seem like much of an alteration, but much like the art of magic sometimes you have to distract your audience. ;)

EDIT: You need to add that thing hanging from the hat too, its very Spanish. Make it yellow and attach it to the medallion. It will make it look better, trust me.

EDIT 2: Also if you really wanted to change the clothing so it didn't look so much like DeGaulle's you could rip either Stalin or Mao's and simply add the pockets and a few buttons here and there. I don't want to demoralize you with all of these ideas, I think it looks really good.

It's going fantastic. I'm much more proud of this version.

Here's a little preview:

I think its awesome ;)

I realize the sash is a little to far down, but you can't see that area in a leaderhead.

Very nice. I love the new sash and the epaulettes are a nice touch fitting with his ostentatiousness. The hat is much improved, though I do think that I am going to prefer the beret version.

Besides the obvious mustaching of the face, I see only two nitpicks:
- The neck is still rather oddly connected to the collar.
- The epaulette opposite the cape might look odd without some shoulder piece.

The great thing is that it's much better than the first version, which really wasn't bad to begin with. The nitpicks may not even be things noticeable in-game. I can't wait to see the final product.

Lookin' pretty good! I was just thinking two or three days ago that we sorely needed an updated Franco. I agree with some of the other suggestions made by fellow posters, but ver 2 is already a huge improvement to your ver 1. I'm looking forward to the final product.

Cheers,

Nice. Needs better facial hair and still a little more other stuff but the uniform is definitely very good!
