This may be asking for too much, but I'm not fond of the hat (plus it seems to be sitting too high-up on his head).

Any chance of just showing us Benito's bald head (prefered)? Either that, or get that hat back down on his head, it looks like it's about to fly off his head (less desireable, but that hat doesn't look right).

Or give Mussolini his silly little Fez... but that hat just doesn't look good.

There has also been some talk of using the "Mr Clean" version of Hiawatha as Mussolini... with an altered nose, that might be a good idea.

Also, this model seems a little "thin" for Benito... not enough pasta-eating (needs to be chubbier).

Sorry for the criticism, but you asked, so I'm trying to be constructive.

    Excellent work, Ekmek!!! :goodjob:

Maybe the mouth could be a bit wider, but finally we'll have a "quality Mussolini", however funny it may sound! ;) :goodjob:

The more I look at it, the more the body isn't right... he's too thin, and the shoulders droop too much...

Mussolini was stalky... a little tubby, and his shoulders didn't slant so far down... the model/base you're using is just too thin IMHO. Shaka/Hiawatha and/or Churchill might be a better base... this guy is just too thin. Either that, or see about fattening-up this guy... level-out the shoulders, fatten him up or something.

Once again, just my opinion. Throw it out if it's not what you agree with.

Well DK does have a natural talent at making things chunky.

Augustus is just too thin to pass for Mussolini (not a fan of that Stalin hat either).

I've tried drastic change to skins. This one has plenty of potential. Mabey something can be done . Hats always look wierd on the bald unless you sell the shadow .

    thx everyone.

    @wolfshanze
the photo you posted does make him look more stout ( i guess thats the word) the picture i based it off made him look thinner. But getting him on "the fatty foods" shouldn't be too tough. And If some can skin his cute little fez I can probably make one.

I'm going to widen the mouth too, he's a bit of a grouper

    @all
This one i want to take some time on to make it look right so I expect some feedback and after the next adjustment I'll post files so we get a collaboration on it, if need be.

    Looks very good :goodjob:
The face looks a little bit thin compared to the photograph and maybe the hat sits a little bit too high-up on his head.

Ekmek... you did a fantastic job with Francis I (my previous request), and I'm a big fan of most of your LHs (especially the more recent ones)... and finally, I realize this Mussolini is truely a work-in-progress and there is still much to be done...

But as it stands now, here's my current contentions:

    1) The Stalin hat really needs to go... Stalin's hat is not the right shape, and doesn't look good on ole' baldy. Either leave him bald or give him a funny hat (that fez thingie).

    2) The Augustus base is waay too thin for Mussolini. Mussolini is a bit tubby with some broad shoulders... Augustus is neither. I'm not good on this 3D stuff, so I have no idea how easy/hard it is to fatten an existing model up... but Augustus' shoulders slouch too much for Mussolini (his shoulders are more horizontal, not sloped) and the whole model is just too thin on the whole... he either needs to be fattened or another model used as the base.

    3) speaking of which... in my perfect world you and mourndraken would team-up on this project... I think there is potential to use the Hiawatha as the base if the nose were corrected, then you could go from there. Once again, now I'm "volunteering" two people to work together, of whom I know neither, and what I'm asking is almost an abandonment of everything you've done so-far Ekmek, so I know this last one is a bit of a stretch, but I'm just sounding-out ideas/opinions. It's just when I talk of a tubbier bald guy with broad shoulders, the Hiawath model starts to come to mind (if the nose were corrected).

Here's some more source pics, most of which show his inherant "not thin-ness" those shoulders that don't slouch, and a couple of "funny hat" pics.

Yeah, he was definitely a stout man. I also prefer the "silly little fez" as wolfie called it.

Fix the nose and perhaps this could be the base for tubby Mussolini (with or without the silly little fez hat).

    things I can do:
    fix nose/customize face
    dress uniform
    dress tie/shirt
or as is : dress him in a brown turleneck

    things I haven't learned:
cross the chest belt from charlemange
    shoulder epaulets
    chest medals
    .. suit collar ?
any drastic model changes are outside my experience

Once again... "in my perfect world"... Mourndraken and Ekmek need to start PM'ing each other... combine those two guys knowledge of LHs and I think we'd have the perfect Mussolini.

I can fat him in blender. But dressing a 3d model isn't like dressing a doll/action figure. The uniform is coming from de gaulle and his sissy frame. The big frame from shaka will go away regardless.

    So ...
1)I'm planning on fattening up and raising his shoulders, I'dd do my first run on that.

    2) I like the fez, so I'm going with that. But post all the fez pix (or there links) you can find so I get the proper shape. I may release a model without it while I'm working on it so mourndraken can work on the face.

    3) I'll widen the mouth

from there I'm hoping mourndraken can do the skinning (especially the hat) and touch up the face as well.

I'll post all files here so anyone thats wants a stab can do it as well.

I'll be able to do stuff by tuesday, but this LH may take time to give the quality it deserves. It will still be my augustus but mostly body adjustments so if we decide to go from there its easy for me to swap the fattened body and put it on mourndraken's bald guy.
