You can do pretty much whatever you want in the right edge start. They're easiest (by far) to get with Cathy. You're probably correct that the rock bottom Deity Space finish requires a fast Manufactory that can be tile-swapped to produce two (or even three) initial Universities. My sense is that you're better off going double GE on the UN in a Diplo game.

True dat. The better question is can you make it work with a central start on deity? Hmmm...difficult. Just building the NC after the GL is challenging due to military pressure and all those turns not spent constructing units. Adding to the Oracle to that queue could well prove fatal.
