Likes alerts sometimes don't work

@Kyriakos, I've just "liked" your post, partly because I approve of it (we should always know if the forum works correctly) and partly as a test to see if you get an alert for it.

There are times when I don't get alerts from Site Feedback, whether it's a "like" or a reply or a new thread.

I cannot comment on their reliability as I disabled them quite a while ago due to excessively popular posts too many alerts. I know at least some of the other staff have also suppressed "like" alerts for similar reasons.

That said I've added a few likes for testing purposes. I wonder if it has something to do with multiple likes on the same post and/or thread? For example, if I'm subscribed to a thread I'll see "Kyriakos replied to the thread "Like alerts sometimes don't work". There may be more posts after this" as an alert, but won't get subsequent alerts should someone else also reply to that thread. Maybe it's only alerting once per post (until you check), or for one post in a thread if multiple posts in that thread received likes? Theoretically, you should have received two alerts from my likes in this thread (and Valka received one).

If you can spot the pattern, it can likely be shared with XenForo as a bug report.

Anyone else have this problem? At times I don't get alerts for such things - while at others I do.
Afaik (and at least I wish to hope this is true) I don't have this issue with quotes (which are obviously primary).

A like alert is marked as "read" when you visit the page where your liked post appears. As like alerts appear when you load a page, that means that if someone likes your post, and the first page that you reload just after is the one where your post was liked, then it will immediately be marked as "read" and you won't see the alert on the bell icon.
