Limbaugh on Vanity in Politics/Media Culture

I think thats what he is saying, in so many words. He is ugly, and he knows it.

U rememerb 10 years ago, he was laughing about a news story he read where peopel were filing a discrimination suit, claiming they couldn't get hired because they were ugly. he laughed and called them uglo-americans.

now, I think he has realized, he is an uglo-american.
I think thats a big reason his TV program failed.

Could explain why his TV show never got far.

We are soulmates!

Fortunately or unfortunately, he shot himself in the foot in his ESPN gig before we could find out if that transferred there. It's possible, even guys giving football color commentary have to look the part. Then again, there is Chris Berman....:hmm:

I wonder what opinion on this would be if Al Gore said all that.

He didn't have a TV show, either.

Al Gore is smart enough not to say something so stupid.

I wonder what Al Gore thinks about vanity in the media and politics. Maybe I'll look that up a little later.

With a job. And lots of money. And I have to give props to Rush, he did lose a lot of weight years ago and got himself back into decent shape compared to what he was.

Very interesting questions posed my Mr. Limbaugh, and I think he's right about how the election system has changed since the advent of television. What do you think?
He said "Do you want to look at a woman age in the Whitehouse?" So in other words, that whole article is antiHillary crap.

The exact quote:

Will Americans want to watch a woman get older before their eyes on a daily basis? And that woman, by the way, is not going to want to look like she's getting older, because it will impact poll numbers. It will impact perceptions.

I'd be calling him just as much as a hypocrite.

I think there is something different to having a special "rights" group spring up and start making demands than having television focus on Hillary Clinton's face.

I mean, as many on this thread have already pointed out, the fact that people vote for good looking people has been well-understood since at least the 1960 televised debate between Kennedy and Nixon. But I guess asking Rush Limbaugh not to puff himself up a bit is too much.
I think it's important to remember that Rush Limbaugh is an entertainer and not a journalist. You also have to admit that in some respect, he's right about that - he doesn't seem to mind controversy, but doesn't try to attract it like some other hosts (O'Reilly, Olbermann, etc.)

(Murky... the less said about your post, the better. Go back and read the article; it isn't about Mrs. Clinton and it has nothing remotely to do with Kathy Bates or American Idol.)

Could explain why his TV show never got far.
From my understanding, the TV show was discontinued because producing it consumed so much time and energy out of the schedule. Could you imagine being on the air for three hours and then going to tape an hour TV show?

Then what the hell is the point in listening to a man who isn't an expert on anything but his ******** "common sense"?

So why are you here and not reading something by Stephen Hawking?

Because I like to laugh at people like you, not with you.

With that said, let the market decide if vanity is important.

I think it fairly obvious the market has been deciding this for quite some time and the verdict has been an overwhelming 'yes'.

Precisely, so no need to complain about it. After all, you should never complain about what the invisible hand chooses.

Seriously..... DUH

Limbaugh should especially feel the sting here. Its the reason why he works on the radio and did terribly on TV. Its the reason why Ann Coulter and Michelle Malkin make $$ when if they looked like either me or MobBoss they'd just be blowhards on some gaming forum. ;)

Oh...the complaining has been done to...and there isnt any way to really stop it either. People complain about the emphasis on looks each and every day while others bow down to it.

So, in that regard, the article is merely stating the obvious.
