You could say that Banwagoned onto ManU once Mark Bosnic left Aston Villa for ManU. I was actually a fan of Villa up until that time, since Bosnic was my favourite player.

c_h, I think that's fair enough, and hardly bandwagonning. To be honest, I never felt anything for ManYoo until Ferguson took charge, and I rather suspect that I'll stop wanting them to win after he leaves.

All the professional teams I support are from Boston (since it has the 4 major sports, unlike some cities with maybe just one or two). Therefore, it's not bandwagoning since they are the only teams I've ever supported.

Would jumping on a bandwagon or being a fairweather fan be considered beneath the pale in the US? I think there is a cultural difference around this. On this side of the pond to defect allegiance is to be a trator - to be hated by those you have betrayed, derided by the impartial observers and always 3rd class to those you have joined, certainly never trusted.
