List your bandwagon affiliations!

bandwagoners aren't seen in a real positive light - at least around the philly area. but i think there's a distinction to be made. local fans who allof a sudden start caring for a philly team when they do well and then abandon them when the chips are down are - well - not real fans imo. i know lots of people like this w/ the philly teams.

admiring a team or player from another city and casually rooting for them is a different matter i think. there's lots of players i admire and passively root for. but it's in a different vein than rooting for their teams/s to win.

I dunno about that. I find it close to impossible to watch a team sport without taking sides. So what am I supposed to do now that the Cardinals are high and dry ? Just not watch any baseball ? Watch it all as a curious, disinterested observer ? Frankly, that's not so much fun. I'll be rooting for the Indians on the basis that Peralta and Sizemore were, for a long period, the only guys on my fantasy team pulling their weight.

Similarly, when the World Cup comes around, should I sit as an agnostic simply because Scotland have failed to qualify (again) ? Or is it that much of a problem if a team catches my eye and excites me with their play, that I start shouting for them ?

You gotta remember - not everyone supports England / the Yankees / Chelsea...

When I watch "my teams" like the Cowboys, Spurs, Longhorns, and Astros its a much higher emotional involvement. When I watch the "bandwagoned teams" like the Chargers or Notre Dame, I want them too win but I wont be devestated if they lose.

Oh, and I never root for rivals. That's beyond the acceptable casual bandwagoning.
