I'm playing as Hatshepsut, pursuing one of her quests in Exploration. "The Gifts of Horus", where I need to collect Sugar, Cocoa, Tea, and Spices. The status indicator on the main screen says that I have 3 of 4. But when I look at the resource screen, I see all 4 present in the top row:

I even have two copies of Tea! Why would the quest not finish?

The quest isn't explained well. Either homeland resources don't count (your Spices are from homelands) or, more likely, resources acquired from trade don't count.

EDIT: Forgot to mention - I fulfilled that quest in my last game and I think I got Tea from homelands, but I'm not fully sure.

I figured it out! It was a crisis policy card which I completely forgot I had equipped - now I feel like an idiot, lol:

Just had this crisis and decided to use this policy card. Immediately un-specialized all my towns, because this card basically makes them all completely useless.

Maybe you need the "distant lands"-version of spices? You don't have that and I suspect that internally they get tracked as different resources. (This is wild speculation, though)

I'm certain you're right that they're tracked differently. HL and DL treasure resources are shown separately on the resource screen.

If I started a game without a memento, is there a way to use one (or two) in a later age, on the age transition? Or is that function disabled for the rest of that specific game?

I think "change mementos" button should be available on age transition anyway. Just don't miss it.

They should move that button to the topof the screen. I never look at the lower left corner.

yeah i just can’t believe they haven’t done it yet… seems like such an easy thing to do and such an obvious failure
