LK137 - Monarch, Khemr, Medium & Small

I got radio and started constructing the Eiffel Tower and Rock and roll. We only have one really good production city which may be a problem later, and I got a few bad events which slowed down the production. First I had a slave revolt, and later a spy caused rioting in the capital which destroyed two towns and one mine. They are rebuilt, but of course it will take time before the cottages grow to towns again.

A GM was born in Athens which conducted a trade misson, netting 3750 gold. I also left a GS in the capital for a future golden age. I researched Industrialism after radio to located aluminium in order to reduce the construction time for the Apollo wonder, and I think we should start constructing Apollo after finishing the Eiffel Tower. Currently we are researching Satellites.

I got us some destroyers, and built a few spy buildings and markets/grocers. Happiness is getting a serious problem, with more and more citizens demanding Emancipation. We probably have to leave slavery soon. The Christ statue would enable us to drop back to slavery when needed, but it will take many turns to construct. I put it in the queue in our second best production city, but perhaps we need more troops instead?

We have unhappiness but cities are growing. I hired a lot of specialists, especially merchants. I also made trades for Sid's Sushi resources.

Research went Satellites -> Refrigeration -> Superconductors (finished in my last turn). Started Labroratories everywhere.

Another GM was born and is on his way to trade mission. This truly is a GM economy we're running :)

Some other events.

We have Aluminium btw. :p

We can start building Apollo after capital builds Labroratory. Or we can delay it little longer and finish Cristo Redentor (which is over halfway built).

Good cruising for the next player.

New Updates
I agree slavery is going away soon. Once the emancipation anger gets to bad, we will have to concede emancipation. I hope we can build Cristo before then.

In the mean time we should whip Pre Rup down to low pop to get more ships. It is one of our only sources of naval help available.

At this point I don't know if it is possible to lose this one. Let's keep heading to infinity and beyond...

Each city is several points under happy cap and emancipation anger is just 1 point. We also finish Rock N Roll in 9 turns and can finish Cristo Redentor just as quickly. We don't need to change away from slavery in a long time :)

Btw. just noticed that we have culture slider in 10%. This can be set to zero to speed research but it causes unhappiness in our capital. My suggestion is that we keep it in 10%.

I got it and will complete tonight (late Sunday 12/2).

First the good news

But here comes the bad news: Sitting Bull built Cristo Redentor

Other than that I kept my whip hand busy with laboratories, coal plants and supermarkets and tried to keep the seafood in circulation but the trade thing is getting really messy with Sitting Bull selling one then taking one away.

Babylon appeared on the map as a vassal of Charlie.

And then there was the string of demands from the neighbors. Yakob got his Education without a quibble on my part. Nobody got their Stop Trading Demand (STD ;) ) and here came the one that made my heart stop briefly

Civ4ScreenShot0013.jpg

That was the entire treasury!! I held my breath, closed my eyes and pushed the "No way, Jose" button and he went away quietly. Whew! :crazyeye:

Must have been the tank I had sitting on his border that deterred him.

PreRup built a couple more destroyers and at least two battleships which are now covering our fishing nets.

The capitol started Apollo.

At the very end got my first Infiltrator message as a spy poisoned the water at Athens. I sent a newly trained spy in that direction. Not that poisoned water will stunt its growth or anything

A Great Scientist was spawned in Angkor Wat and sent to join his colleague in the capitol.

A volcano wrecked a uranium mine on an island so there are workers taking care of that.

Robotics will drop in a handful of years and the GP mix should probably switch to Engineers to finish the Space Elevator, if we can build it.

I didn't take a close look at the population numbers but I think we can skip the UN project, though it is there for the taking if we want it.

And so to bed.

I can tell we have an absurd amount of Sid Sushi's resources. I feel we can afford the health hit from industrial parks. That is a building I often don't build. The delay this game in launching our ship will be production, so more engineers for production looks nice.

1886 AD
We have an artist. I will save him for a GA.
(IT) The game just became a headache as Sitting Bull declared war.

1887 AD
The bad news is culture had to go up to 30% between more emancipation anger, and we won't fight out brothers and sisters in faith. We also lost a happy resource from him.

We have a great general that will form a super medic explorer.

I have Brennus join the war for Communism just to divert troops away from us. At this point in the game I really don't want to swap most of our cities to military.

The tech is so lopsided between Sitting Bull and us that transports can attack with at 95% odds. A lot of naval units are under the bottom of the sea.
(IT) Our exposed stack by Angkor Wat lost a single rifle, when most of the attackers died. The first attack force is already depleted. I see a second group already on its way.

1888 AD
I hate to start a revolt during a war, but we have got to get rid of the emancipation anger now.
(IT) The mother lode event really needs to scale with time. Getting token cash this late in the game seems meaningless.

Jayen is our best source for space elevator. I just landed three workers for the missing rails, and forest lacking lumber mills.

Stupid Sitting Bull :( Well, got it and will try to finish the war asap. We have a space ship to build.

I had a feeling that was coming when he begged for our treasury then kept jacking around the trade deals. Why doesn't he just sit tight and when we leave he can have the territory :)

Well, warfare is easy when you have a tech advantage. I killed lots of troops outside Ankor Wat, and I took one city.

This was enough to bring Sitting Bull to the negotiation table.

I accepted since we are not going for a domination win this time. I also got a GG who became an instructor in the military city.

Apollo was finished, and I started construction of some of the parts. I got a GE who I moved to Athens, where I think he should found Mining Inc. We need more production. Zara asked for open borders, and Stalin won the Pope election.

We must have killed an absurd amount of SB's troops, since I just got a general during my turn!

I really don't understand corporations. In theory we should be able to form Mining Inc, but we don't have the option. I vote for the GE to be a golden age. We have space elevator locked, so I see no gain from rushing part of that building.

That is strange. I got the GE in the city SW of Shangian, and I know that I had the option of founding Mining Inc then. However, I wanted to get the headquarters in Athens instead, so I moved him. Perhaps it is because the first city had metal (bronze) in the fat cross, while Athens doesn't have that?

Are you in mercantilism or state property? You can't find corporations in those with official 3.13 patch. I think game should actually tell why it's not possible to found them (this question gets asked a lot in forums).

Mining Inc and Sid's Sushi should cooperate with each other so it's probably because of Mercantilism. D'oh!

We are - I totally forgot about being in mercantilism since we are running 60% science. I normally don't come close to 60% with that civic.

Lurker's comment :
No problems here with Mining Inc or Creative Constructions.
It could be a problem if you aren't using Bhruic's patch.
Also, it would be weird not be able to found corporations while
running Mercantilism.
