LK155 - CCM, Maya

Good job and nice trading Greebley.

Can we use a Fort as a canal like in civ4? It looks to me like we will need ships on the west side of our landmass not the east coast.

Travel Advisory

I'll be travelling and unable to play until December 11. I assume our main concern over that period will be peacefully climbing the tech tree to buildable settlers.

We haven't talked about triggering our GA, which with our variant requiring us to raze all enemy cities looks very difficult at best, and quite likely impossible. I believe we've never reached our GA in CCM without the help of enemy-built Wonders. Still, we should make a full analysis of whatever chances we have; I'm afraid I don't have the time right now.

That´s another interesting story , Thank you all very much. :)

In Civ 3, as Elephantium said, only cities can work as canals. The next version of CCM will hold the Antal1987 4-patch, that reduces the distance between cities to one (and therefore allows canals through isthmuses), fixes the Scientific Golden Age and fixes the magenta stripes in the civilopedia. I´m working very hard on that next version of CCM and hope that the non-public betatests can start before december this year.

1615 AD (0)
I see nothing to change.
(IT) BLEH - The Inca beat us to Mesoamerican Christianization.

1620 AD (1)
Worker Housing wastes shields, and swaps to university.
A Carthage settler has landed by our big stack. I am going to let it build a city, and hopefully pillage a nice chunk of cash next turn.
(IT) We lost a JT and AC, killing a longbow. (1-2)

1625 AD (2)
Knight dies to harquebusier. (1-3)
Catapult kills harquebusier. (2-3)
Chariot kills elephant. (3-3)
Enslaver dies to longbow. (3-4)
Enslaver kills longbow, giving us a new slave. (4-4)

1630 AD (3)
I took a nap.

1635 AD (4)
We now have enough courts to start Supreme Court. It is due in 8 turns. Quir is an awesome shield city.
We wipe a late pikeman, and wipe the new Carthage city gaining 3,111 gold. (5-4)
We kill a sabre fighter. (6-4)

1640 AD (5)
I sell backwards France sacred art for $75 and $11/T.
(IT) I give the Inca $100 as a "gift".

1645 AD (6)
I took a nap.

1650 AD (7)
USA suddenly has money, so I ship them clockworks for $71 and $70/T.
I ship clockworks to Austria for $90 and $39/T.

1655 AD (8)
I ship the Inca ballistics and $1380 for medicine. He was the only one with medicine without ballistics.

1660 AD (9)
Our enslaver spots a US worker by our border, and converts him to a slave.

1665 AD (10)
More napping.

1670 AD (11)
Still nothing happening.
(IT) Mongolia can have $100.
The Supreme Court is completed. It is time to put the lawyers to work.

1675 AD (12)
Kaminaljuyú is founded.
I merged 3 native workers, and disbanded some units to expand borders. It will need town center next to deal with corruption. There are several junk units walking there to be disbanded.
I ship ballistics to Poland for $114, and $48/T.

Our new city:

This is my proposed next city. With the 4 sugar tiles it will have decent food growth. I am already sending irrigation to it. There are some stray native workers heading that way, which can quickly get it to size 4. Our new units to disband can head this way.

I am hoping the we can sell absolutism to the Inca for at least a discount on enlightenment.

We can get out of the Carthage war cheap ($40) if they drop a serious threat. Right now a chance for them to drop another city near us and the massive gold collection makes me want to ignore peace.

LK, what do you think about moving that blue dot next to the lake? I'm on the fence about the extra food tile vs. saving time on building an aquaduct.

Is black dot or gray dot what you are thinking of?
I could live with either, but gray gets a third sugar making me like that a bit more. Make sure to cancel the stack of workers underneath the knight if we go that way, as I am irrigating a meaningless tile.

I like the gray dot for the third sugar. OTOH, maybe getting the fourth sugar is more important; we've had more production capacity than we know what to do with, in this game.

I prefer Grey Dot too, for a really shield-strong city eventually. We haven't needed much military production yet, but that will change completely when we're trying to conquer the world with no productive base beyond our native cities.

I too prefer the Grey Dot.
I think America should be our next target.
Are we going to convert to Fascism when we learn it in the next Age?

I got it.

Our Settler and his escorts are 2 turns away from founding a city on the “gray dot”
I built the Military Academy in Quirigua (Imperialism will make the Great Guild obsolete ).
The Marine Academy was built in Uxmal since it did not appear likely that we could build East Indian Trading before the Cartagenians.

1675AD:
Hurry a Harbor in Lazapa.

Between Turns: The Vikings demand Economics from us; I turn them down; they declare war on us.

1680AD:
Our Spice trade with Japan expires. Japan wants Ballistics for spice so I look for another source.
We trade 2092 gold to the Mongols for Spices and Absolutism.
We trade Absolutism + 1278 gold to the Inca for Enlightenment.
We trade Economics to China for 32 gpt + 12 Gold.
We Trade 80gpt + 5481 gold to the Mongols for Military Tradition.
We trade Military Tradition to the Inca for 90 gpt +1278 gold.
We trade Naval Guns to Austria for 13gpt + 64 gold.
We trade Naval Guns to India for 3gpt + 118 gold.

I begin to upgrade our veteran troops (will take a while to shuffle them around)

Our War Galleon sinks a Carthage Galleon. (1,0)

1685AD:
Our trade with the US expires and we lose our supply of Elephants. I am not going to trade with the USA since I think we should attack after our trade agreements end to take horses from them.
Our trade deal with France expires and we lose our supply of Silk.
We trade Clockworks to France for Silks + 3 gpt.
We trade Free Artistry to Portugal for 8 gpt + 93 gold.
We trade Military Tradition to Turkey for 54 gpt +268 gold

Our exploring ship meets the Egyptians.
We trade the Egyptians Physics for Dyes, 96 gpt and 634 gold.

Our War Galleon sinks a Carthage Galleon. (2,0)

Between Turns: The Carthaginians are building East Indian Company. I had started a pre-build for this, but I guess it is now a pre-build for the Marine Academy.

1700AD:
We trade Ballistics to Japan for 101 gpt + 210 gold.

Our exploring ship meets the Russians.
Unfortunately, they are broke and cannot afford to trade for Chivarly.

We trade Naval Guns to India for 3gpt + 118 gold.
That was to cheap in my opinion. Unless the tech is really obsolete, we should not trade that cheap.

Glad to see all those ships I set sailing paid off. :)

@tusker - no rush since 2 of us can't play until after Sunday.

I'm halfway through my set. We can buy Steam Power now, for 296gpt + 4239 gold (basically all we have). I'm tempted to take the deal now (instantly join the IA!), despite the damage it does to our treasury.
OTOH, I'm cautious about making the deal; we'll lose nearly 260gpt from trades in under 10 turns.

Team, what do you think? We can probably cover the future deficit with more trades without driving the slider down too far,

For reference, it looks like Steel (build Workers) and Imp Steam Engines (rails) will each take 12-14 turns to research.
