In my eyes the most probable cause is that it is a Window´s problem. If I remember well, the wrong spelling 'Medivial" in the CCM2 biq was corrected with the last version of CCM2. If the old version of the biq with the wrong spelling is located in the virtual store of your laptop/pc, the old biq overwrites the newer version of the biq, irrespective of beeing the C3C main biq named Conquests in the C3C mainfolder or the biq in the scenarios folder named CCM2.45.

You have to look for the VirtualStore in your pc (search-function) and if you find there a structure like the following, you have to delete the Conquests biq (mainfolder) or the CCM2 biq (Scenarios folder) in the VirtualStore, that overwrites your biq in the normal C3C folder with an old version of that biq and than to reinstall the biq with the current version in the C3C mainfolder (Conquests biq) or in the C3C scenarios folder (CCM2 biq), because the biq in the normal folder was overwritten with the dates of the biq with the old version. A biq is automatically written by Windows into the VirtualStore, when you change something in the normal biq in the Program Files (X86) folder.

The same can happen with text files.

    Well, VirtualStore is empty (C:\Users\$Tusker\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\)

I copied the text file into the CCM scenario folder...fingers crossed...

One thing I am confused by in the positive cash flow. We are hurting on tech, keep the cash flow negative to speed up tech.

BTW, I somehow ended up with real problems with windows and it having the wrong version despite the virtual store being seemingly empty.

I had the Steam version and was able to tell it to go to my d: drive in a directory that had nothing to do with the virtual store. If you can't get it to work, this is my suggestion; reinstall civ in a different location entirely and then set up as a scenario.

One final thing: though I had the steam version because I ran the antal executable I did NOT want use the steam version of the text file. It would show up wrong when I first started but then used the nonsteam version when I entered the scenario and everything was fine (i.e. after the load).

Philosophy is an inexpensive Tech. We cannot learn it any faster than 4 turns. Religion will cost 4 times as much as Philosophy, and Chivalry will cost 4.8 times as much. We might not be able to learn the upcoming Techs in 4 turns.

JJ is correct; I lowered the slider because Phil is cheap.

I'm almost done...should be able to post my set tomorrow. It's tough to juggle two turnsets at once - in hindsight, I should have asked for a swap in one of the two games

    Pre-turn:

Look around. Cities look pretty good.

Old Japan: Brazil menaces Kyoto with some Catapult ships (not a serious threat), but the area is otherwise quiet.
    Old Scandinavia: Also quiet.
France: Looks secure. There's some enemy movement N-ish of Rheims, but it looks manageable. I'm thinking about advancing the forces at Orleans on the French city S of Lyons.
USA: They're on the run. I count over 20 attackers available near Atlanta; I'll advance on Washington soon.

That was our first worker losses. :(
We really should keep the workers away from first line cities.

That is a phrase I am getting tired of hearing. Too many rounds of high losses is really slowing us down.

The flip with Washington sucked, but not 100% surprised. It was way overdue with the number of cities taken. We really need to improve our culture rating. We have 24 cities and 3,782 total culture points. USA still has 5 cities, and 6,513 total culture points.

Miami really needs to fall. That is greatly increasing the odds of losing Washington.

Quick update on turn 6 (I think). Both France and USA have been eliminated. We only face Brazil right now and I have gone into builder mode to get our cities happier and bigger. We will hit the MA before the end of my turn. Any preference which tech to research? Right down the path for free techs?

    WOW

Free is always a good thing. Techs giving stuff to build really helps. If we are in builder mode, we may has well get as many happy & culture buildings up as possible. I want to become the culture leader to reduce flip risk in the future.

We may want to look at another port city soon. We have to be careful exploring, but we want to be ready to start shipping stuff over seas.

I do not know the Technology modifiers. Therefore I will just give the conquests.biq costs times 100.
    For comparison purposes:
    Philosophy: 500 beakers.
    Religion: 2000 beakers.
    Chivalry: 2400 beakers.
    Age of Discovery
    Engineering: 3200 beakers.
    Theology: 3200 beakers.
    Alchemy: 3200 beakers.
    Navigation: 3200 beakers.

All things being equal, it will take 33% more beakers to research any of the upcoming Age of Discovery techs.

I would research Navigation first since it will let us upgrade the ships being produced by the Navigators Wonder to Medieval Naval explores and the can cross seas and oceans without sinking. It seems likely that Brazil is the last enemy on this land mass and we need to find new lands to conquer. Also, the more AI's we know the cheaper it might be to research a Tech (if they know the tech).

Engineering allows roads to have bridges, negating the river crossing penalty, and allows us to build Windmills. However, it makes the Ballista Shop, and the Royal Stables obsolete.

Alchemy leads to Gunpowder so we can find Saltpeter and build better troops.

Theology leads to happy face buildings.

    Pre-Turn
    MM a little
decide Miami needs to go, attack it three time, get a MGL and raze the city for 340gold

IT we are lucky on defense, kill one units and one of our enslavers retreats

    Turn 1 - 1420AD
take out 2 American units, gaining a monk and move forward towards New York
    monk expands borders in Washington

Lose two catapharacts, but manage to take Paris, France is down to 1 city

IT we lose an enslaver on the counter and get philosophy

    Turn 2 - 1430AD
we use the monk, nice border expansions
Decide to attack New York with fast units, take out 4 units without losses and the city is our
    Fill it to quell resistance

Optimize setting for fast research, get religion down to

IT our enemies are pretty gassed, there is hardly any resistance now

    Turn 3 - 1440AD
set up attacks on Phila and Chicago

attack last French city of Marseilles and they are gone

    Turn 4 - 1450AD
we take Chicago with ease, they only have strength 2 defenders
we lose three units at America's latest capital but phila is ours too. There is only one city left

    Prepare for final assault
Start to move units to attack Brazil

IT Brazil kills one of our attack forces

    Turn 5 - 1460AD
lose two catapharacts, but we manage to take out USA too

Now, we got only one enemy we know. This will let us consolidate and then go after them properly.
Lose two catapharact and take Lyons from Brazil

IT We get religion and start chivalry

    Turn 6 - 1470AD
Pig n Cow starts school of divinity, done in 3 turns

quell resistance and peek into the north to find Brazil

    Turn 7 - 1480AD
moving a stack of units from America to the front, this will take a while. I am building a lot of infrastructure to support
    bigger cities.

    IT

    Turn 8 - 1490AD
move troops forward, we uncover the first real Brazilian city

IT Pig and Cow finish School of Divinity

    Turn 9 - 1500AD
I move aggressively forward towards Brazil. Hope this doesn't backfire

IT we end up losing a redlines catapharact to an invisible unit and get one retreated

we enter the MA with finishing chivalry

    Turn 10 725AD
we can now build the Royal Tournament and the prebuild for the Philosophers Stone (40 shields)
we get alchemy in 5 turns at a slight deficit

Problem is we got no prebuild unless we build Royal Tournament in a city with less production (Pig with Cow)

At the front, we take out 4 crossbows, but lose a catapharact, we need to get through desert and onto that mountain towards the city
There is a big stack following as well

The RnG was what I expect from CCM, offense is way superior to defense and without armies, a certain amount of losses are to be absorbed.
