LK161, Australia, CCM 2.5, 180K goal

I offered Russia all we had (127 gold, 50 gold per turn, and incense) and they were insulted by the deal. Same was true with Greece.
That tells me we are getting a great deal with Korea. I vote sign the peace treaty. If we are lucky Chivalry will get us some back. I already milked most of the lower civs, so not sure how much cash out there.

When our current trade agreement with S. Africa expires in about 10 turns they have a town or 2 near us that would fit nicely into our empire. :mischief:
I already had them on the list. There cities are really needed after Korea. SA is the target to build a good front line.
I wasn't happy when they stole the food heavy spot on my set.
I was already thinking of that for our next city.

Any pics for the peanut gallery? :thanx:

:yup: Here you have a view on the 180k city in 210 AD (era 2). You can see the granary, the School of Divinity (Cluny for Christian civs), a basilica, the forge, the temple, an aqueduct, an academy, the city center, the market place, a theatre and the collosseum.

...and here is the city view of the city 180k in 150 BC (era 1):

The food heavy city I really want. It should be a coastal powerhouse with the bison giving forest that are food positive.

Summary:
Congrats to JJ on tech trading. I didn't expect to be in age of discovery so soon.

Let us hope there are more civs on the new land mass. One more backwards civ would really be nice. The borders we see don't match the color of the Vikings or Britain. There is at least one more civ.

Wonsan is a major flip risk. Can we please remove the majority of the troops? I'd hate to lose a big chunk of our offense. With all those 1 defense troops around, this looks like the place for our enslavers to hunt.

Can we get some more spears? We are wasting a lot of offensive troops defending worker stacks.

Please don't make any new deals with South Africa. There is a city I really want from them.

Multiple deals end the middle of Greebley's set. I hope with all that iron freed up we can pull off at least a two way tech trade.

Lee knows what I like. :ack:

I forgot to post this at the end of my turn: 180K's culture of 615 exceeds Canberra's culture of 602.

We need to kept 1 Iron for our own use.

Horse town is terrible to defend. Please make sure we get 2 spears, and walls in it ASAP. Ship some of the crew from 180K to road toward it.
This makes the needs for the capitol to build spears even more important.

New PC has CCM ready for use. ;-)

Preturn: Move Elephants out of Wonsan. Some MM.

230 AD: Civ near the boat is Mongols who equal us in Tech.

IBT: Greece and South Africa end their war.

250 AD: Cave to 51 gold demand from Greece.
Capture Worker

270 AD: Deal with South Africa is done. Attack and Capture Walvis Bay losing an Elephant.
We are now building Spear so we must have gotten Iron back.

Gain an South African Worker and Capture another.

280 AD: Lose an Elephant to a Treb.

290 AD: Kill some crossbows. Gain a Worker with an Enslaver.

300 AD: Gain a Leader with an Enslaver.

We have 80 gpt...

Trade Elephants, Iron, 65 gpt, and 149 gold for Navigation from Lowlands
Trade Navigation and Gold (resource) for Theology
Trade Navigation and 70 gold for Engineering
Trade Navigation Hardwood, 190 gold for Alchemy from Britain.

Get back 47 gpt and 82 gold from Mongolia.
Get 6 gpt from Persia.

Start building Windmills.

It is getting late so I will stop here (also it is an even number of years). I am also getting tired and mis-clicking.

Notes:
Was waiting for Luderitz to grow to size 2 to attack so it won't be destroyed.
Units have been near Wonsan but they are currently cleared out.
I put the game on heavy science; it would get the one unknown tech in 30 (clockwork). It can be switched back to 50 turns if we want.

Late set teaser:
Major worker grab.

300 AD (0)
180K still makes just 15 CPT. Monks and artists are the key to culture in CCM.

I drop science back to minimum. I’d rather save the money for trading and / or upgrades.

I want to get more pikes produced. However, I’ll wait for the windmill in Canberra. That should get them to just 1 turn.

310 AD (1)
Mongolia suddenly has cash. They get Theology for $131 and $87/T.

320 AD (2)
Our priest sees some action killing a French horse. (1-0)
Our enslaver kills a Greek warrior. (2-0)
The leader is at 180K. They are waiting for something bigger to rush.
Our enslaver kills a Korea horse archer. (3-0)
I have no idea where Mongolia is getting so much cash from. They now get Navigation for $92/T and $111.
Everyone offers the exact same price. Nubia is rich, so they get $388, $195/T for renaissance.
Israel gets renaissance for $83/T and $79. That recovers a decent amount of our cost.
I buy sacred art from France for renaissance, $353 and $48/T.
(IT) Our elephant barely defends against a SA elephant. (4-0)
America is in the game somewhere. They completed Sacred Art.

330 AD (3)
Elephant defeats SA pike. (5-0)
Elephant defeats SA pike and auto-razes Luderitz. (6-0)
The town had way to much overlap with Walvis Bay. I would have razed it anyhow.
Elephant defeats SA lion warrior. (7-0)

Darwin is founded. We will eventually get horses.
The newly connected coffee goes to Nubia for $240.
We contact China. They are backwards and broke. :(
(IT) We lost a chariot to SA. (7-1)

340 AD (4)
We kill a SA crossbow. (8-1)
I change my mind on the leader, and rush a great religious center in Hobart. There is nothing expensive to build in 180K.
(IT) We lost a spear. (8-2)
I am starting to find a lot of SA crossbows.
I have to give Israel $2/T to keep the coffee / gems trade going.

350 AD (5)
Wimpy priest runs away from a spear.
Enslaver kills the injured French spear. (9-2)
Enslaver kills French Gallic sword. (10-2)
I’m having horrid luck getting any specials.
We contact USA. They are the tech leader, and the only one with humanism.
Priest barely kills French medieval catapult.
Israel finally offers an okay price for sacred art. We get $110 and $29/T.
Persia gets sacred art for $50 and $32/T.

360 AD (6)
We kill a SA crossbow. (11-2)
We lost an elephant. (11-3)
(IT) We take a beating losing catapult, elephant and realm. We did kill a crossbow. (12-6)
An enslaver and I suspect holy man, were two of the attackers.

370 AD (7)
I kill 2 SA pike. (14-6)
I kill an enslaver. (15-6)
I kill 2 crossbows. (16-6)
I kill a holy man. (17-6)
It was expensive, but we capture Bloemfontein. We gain 7 workers.
That stack almost completed a road by itself. I just needed to add one worker.

I kill an enslaver. (18-6)
An enslaver kills a French archer. (19-6)
The bad luck streak is over as we gained a worker.
A priest kills a Gallic sword and goes elite. (20-6)
An enslaver kills a Gallic sword. (21-6)
(IT) We got a peace treaty offer from Korea. Sadly, I felt I had to accept it. 20 more turns of peace with them. I can’t handle Korea and South Africa right now.
Since we are stuck with peace I give Korea alchemy for $40 and $16/T.
I give Nubia $69 in blood money.
Resistance is already over in Bloemfontein.

380 AD (8)
Enslaver kills SA crossbow. (22-6)
Enslaver kills French ballista. We gain another worker. (23-6)
Priest runs away from a French spear. An enslaver then kills the damaged spear. (24-6)
Enslaver kills French archer. (25-6)
I ship Britain sacred art for gunpowder. I can’t find any gunpowder in our borders. Nobody on our continent has any spare to trade.
Israel gets gunpowder for $50 and $36/T.
(IT) Spain established an embassy with us.

390 AD (9)
Enslaver kills French sword. (26-6)
Priest kills French elephant. (27-6)
Priest kills Korean medieval catapult. (28-6)
My luck with priests continues to suck.
Elephant kills SA crossbow. (29-6)
2 chariots die to a demonic SA bucket. (29-8)
A third chariot finally kills the bucket. (30-8)
Wimpy enslaver retreats from SA crossbow. It will have to live damaged, as I am out of healthy attackers.
(IT) I give Spain $91 in blood money.
We lost our priest to an enslaver. (30-9)
Now I have to give Egypt $87 in blood money.

400 AD (10)
KotR kills SA crossbow. (31-9)
Chariot kills SA crossbow. (32-9)
Elephant dies to a demonic SA crossbow. A chariot then kills the demon. (33-10)
[End of session 2]

Summary:
We are pretty much at tech parity. Only a couple of civs are ahead with humanism.

Keep exploring the other continent. I found 2 more civs, and there is no sign of where that one ends. There has to be at least 2 to 3 more civs over there.

The stack by Bloemfontein still needs a lot of healing time. I suspect most of Elephantium’s set will be healing that stack, and getting some defensive pikes into it. SA only has been sending crossbows. I see no reason to stop the war. It may even be waiting until our borders expand. I suspect there is a city hidden in the fog. Depending how long their set is, JJ may continue the offensive.

The northern workers are bringing water to Elephantium Prime. After that, it needs to go to Darwin. Darwin is pretty much garbage until those plain tiles get irrigated.

Watch around 180K for that annoying enslaver that killed our priest.
