11 turns to settle Red. Only 5 turns to settle Tan aka Blue (is anyone else getting dizzy from the color changes?). 8 turns to settle Orange. With that in mind, I'd be fine going for Tan or Orange now and whatever makes sense in 20 turns for the next Settler.

LK: There was no activity in the thread, so I figured no one had seen my question yet. It hadn't even been an hour, so...

Are you asking about Korea's SoDs? Sorry to say, they're generally Spears and Warriors :\

JJ: Babs will switch back to Horsemen next turn. I wanted another defender handy to make sure we could cover each city with two guys and each Worker stack with at least one Spear.

IBT we see lots of Korean troops moving towards our Enslaver.

    T72:

Korean worker starts irrigating the wheat.

IBT South America complains about Enkidu.
    Babylon produces Apprentice.
Babylon: Assyrian Spearman (AS) > Slavery
    Bagdad: Temple > Forge
South America is building Hanging Gardens

    T73:

UGH! Mooville grew, so now it's cranky. I hire a tax man.
Workers by Babylon start another road (riverside BG)
Workers by IHS start roading the wheat

IBT Korean spear moves onto our road
    Babylon produces an Enslaver.

T74: The new Enslaver kills the Korean spear

    Lux slider to 30%...

IBT (Turkish?) Enslaver dies on Enkidu Warrior
Maghreb is annoyed by our EW
    Mooville: Siege Workshop > AS
    Brazil completes Hammurabi's Code.

T75: New Worker arrives at Bagdad to help irrigate.

IBT Inca and Turkey both boot us.
We lose 1 EW to Enslaver but fight off another (definitely Turkish).

T76: Several civs now have Seafaring. We can't afford it.

IBT EW dies to Turkish Enslaver
    Dutch complete Hanging Gardens.

    T77:

Switch Mooville to Slavery, only 3 shields left on AS
    Incas have Silks!

IBT Spain DEMANDS 27 gold. I deny them. They back down.
Maghreb boot us. Sigh, we're not getting explorers through to the north :(

    Babylon: Slavery > Temple

T78: Shipment arrives in Babylon, 25 gold :)

    IBT Turkey grumbles at us...
    Babylon produces a Horse

    T79: Maghreb have Gems now.
    We have a Three-Man Chariot :)

IBT We watch an Inca unit get killed by an Enslaver
Scandinavian Scout comes out of the fog near Incas.
    Babylon produces a Clan.
We get the SupplyCenter (Ivory) message.

    We now have Horses!

T80: Scandinavia is up CoL, Construction, Seafaring. They have Camel and Incense but lack Horses, Iron, Elephants, and Silver. 138 gold.
They'll sell Construction for Elephants, Iron, 5gpt, and 151 gold.

Spain, OTOH, will sell Construction for Elephants, Iron, and 91 gold.
Incas already have Iron, but they'll take Elephants, Horses, 4gpt, and 9 gold in exchange for Construction.
Germany will probably be insulted! by any deal we offer them

I dial up Spain and make the deal.
Then Maghreb gives us Seafaring and Gems for Construction and 104 gold.
Then I sell Mathematics and Mysticism to Korea for CoL and 6 gold.

Spain and Incas both know Republic and Monarchy, but they're too expensive for now.

    IBT
    Mooville: Slavery > AS

    T81: Enslaver captures Korean Warrior

IBT EW dies to Enslaver near Bursa
    Babylon: Temple > MidEast Horseman

    T82: Waiting...

IBT: We see a Korean settler pair on the move in the direction of the blue dot.

    Mooville: AS > MH

    T83: Just moving' troops

    IBT: Babylon: MHs
    India completes Worldreligion Hinduism

T84: Our Settler is almost in position!

IBT: Spain moves a settler pair next to our spot
    Babylon produces Apprentice
    Mooville: MHs

    Volcano at Bursa active!

T85: Move the Settler into place. Moment of truth...

IBT: NOO! Spain settles in place.
    Babylon: MHs
    Spain building Worldreligion Christianity
    South America completes Silk Road.

T86: Crestfallen, I move our Settler away from Valencia. I hear that Tan Dot is lovely this time of year.

    IBT: Babs: EW > MH
    Mooville produces a Catapult
    Mooville: MHs
    Germans are building Worldreligion Christianity

T87: There's a Spanish Archer on the Big Game tile. I move an Enslaver towards him.

IBT: He moves from the Game

    T88: Cat-and-mouse with the Archer...

    IBT: Babs: MHs
    Mooville: MHs

T89: Our northern explorer sees ocean! Time to head east.

IBT: Spain settles Zaragoza 3N-NE of Iron Horse Saloon! We're going to get hemmed in quicker than I thought.

T90: Ashur founded on Tan Dot (sorry, @LKendter !). Arabic Symbol due in 5.

We should start considering a prebuild in Babylon or Mooville. Babylon can grow in 8 turns, Mooville in 5 if we boost the lux slider up to 30. I think Mooville can hit 20 spt if we build an Admin Center and mine the Iron mountain. Marketplace is 100 shields, giving us a 4 or 5 turn head start on GLib.

Please give in to minor demands this early. We are by no means ready for a war this early.

I loaded the save. Tan dot was my blue dot. :crazyeye: :crazyeye: :crazyeye:
Time to get blue dot on the road-net.

The rich guy is the Inca. Sadly, they aren’t close to us.

It is time for Greebley to work out the partial prebuild for the Great Library.

There is still a debate on further restrictions.

Why is our second Iron source not hooked up?

Edit: Why ado we have all of our extra troops in Iron Horse and none in Bagdad?

Hey, how many workers do you think we have? I roaded and watered the wheat, then added another road at IHS, thinking I'd have Green Dot connected by now. In hindsight, I should have started roading towards Valencia instead of hitting the BG -- we would have gotten our spot if we'd moved 1 turn faster :(

For the troops, I was moving them towards Spain in anticipation of war on that front once we have 12-15 troops for a proper SoD. We could move against Korea instead, sure -- it'll take about 3 turns to reposition the current set of troops.

IMO the first war is Korea. They are backwards. Spain is at least 3 tech ahead of us.
I'm still in no rush for a war. As far as I know we have no walls up.

Man, I'm strikin' out in this game. Seems like just about every decision I make turns out to be the opposite of what the majority of the team actually wants :(

I'm updating my website history for LK164. It was 1972 AD vs 1969 AD for LK163. Weird how close the dates were.

    Preturn:
Change Mooville admin center and MM to 4 turns by working BG. The city requires 2 specialists now so needs the content person.

Looked at Korea and Spain. Spain has a bunch more cities than us so it would be a tough opponent. Check and they have Oracle which not only gives settlers but also 2 civ advances. This explains why they are so strong.

Likely we could take out all Korea or grab a city or two from Spain and plea for peace when we can. I think this can wait until after we get the GLib though if we can get it. Then we should be more equal in tech.

For some reason it looks like Bagdad has only one defender so I sent fast units over to defend. When they get there I find 2 after all (edited).

Note that attacking Spain early and grabbing the two nearest cities isn't a bad strategy for a domination win, but because this is a Space launch game, I am also voting for safer and slower expansion, which means Korea once we are fully ready.

IBT: Archer moves closer to Enslaver as intended.

250 BC: Enslaver kills archer and gets a Worker.

225 BC: Bagdad is now safe. Met Germany. Did we know them before? They have 2 tech above us.

IBT: Invisible unit attacks our Enslaver under the Horseman and a worker is seen leaving the scene.

200 BC: Our Horsman kills the invisible unit. The Horseman is now in Spanish lands since they got a city expansion.

I saw dark blue unit on a hill but did not talk to them. I thought seeing them was enough, but it appears not as I don't have contact. I went back and checked - they are Egypt.

IBT: Brazil got Christianity (and not Spain who were also going for it).

175 BC: Start chasing the Egyptian units so we can meet them.

    IBT: Germany establishes an Embasy

125 BC: Iron Horse has walls. Also started building the first of 2 or 3 trireme.

100 BC: Capital has a Market.

IBT: Give the Incan 39 gold despite their fear of our Catapult.

75 BC: Enslaver kills a Worker giving us a Worker.

50 BC: Get out of Korean lands after getting worker.

    IBT: lose gems

25 BC: The 'big turn' of the set. We get Lit and start the great library; finish the mine on the mountain and raise lux to get the Great Library in 13 turns at 24 shields a turn. I also started mining the other mountain. We also get our first Trireme which is checking out a border on the island nearby.
Trade for gems (14 gpt), and silk from Inca for elephants.

    Notes:
I sent the Enkidu in the Capital to protect the worker stack on the mountains. I don't think Korea can harm them but we also can't defend without a Warrior.

I didn't build units other than complete those already started. I figure we should build infrastructure first.

Couldn't find the Egyptian units - we lost them. There is also the crimson city our trireme may be able to meet.

Picked a random tech - Elephants because we have some. Don't think we want a 50 turn run if we fail the Glib gambit, so starting a 50 turn only makes sense for a tech we don't really need.

Lee, the horseman on the Spanish border were entering Spanish land and then stepping back for a chance to kill an invisible unit first. It really needs a defender to work well though so feel free to do something else.

I realize that Lee has mostly likely played at least 4 turns already, but if we really want to get a Golden Age Right now here is what I would do:
Drop research to 0%. temporally drop luxury rate to 0%.
Trade Lit +gold to Germany for Republic.
Trade Lit around for Philosophy and gold.
    Revolt to become a Republic.
When we exit anarchy and become a Republic keep science rate at 0% (why waste gold on techs we will get for free).
We can use some of this gold to upgrade our horseman.
Set luxury rate to 20% or 30% what ever is needed to keep cities working without hiring clowns.
Change Babylon from Granary to Ishar Gate due in 3 turns.
Without the Golden Age effect, Mooville will complete the Great Library 8-9 turns after out Golden Age has begun. So it should finish a turn or 2 faster.
Upon completion, we should get several techs.

I saw JJ’s plan for instant GA. However, I want to keep literature an exclusive tech to try and lock the Great Library.

I ship our spare iron to Germany for $22/T, $17 and a worker.
(IT) I lost a distant exploring warrior.

    75 AD (4)
I give Canada construction for philosophy and $21.
(IT) Korea is building World Religion Buddhism.

    100 AD (5)
Ellipi is founded per the dot map.
(IT) Korea suddenly moves a good chunk of their unit stack away from us.
    Israel completes Jewish World Religion.
    Persia completes World Religion Islam.

    125 AD (6)
Our enslaver attacks a Korean Chariot and kills it. I gain a worker from the settler underneath.
(IT) Something invisible (holy man) kills our bowman on iron mountain.

    150 AD (7)
A chariot kills the invisible unit.

    Spain already has pikes.
(IT) Babylon hits size 11 and can finally build 1 turn spears.

    175 AD (8)
    (IT) Korea lost an enslaver.
Maghreb and Korea are building the Great Library.
The Aztecs complete Temple of Kukuclan.

    200 AD (9)
An enslaver attacks a Korea warrior. It went elite, but no new worker.
(IT) Germany demands $61 and gets it. I don’t want to risk a long distance useless war.
Scandinavia is building the Great Library.

    225 AD (10)
Our elite enslaver risks an attack vs a Korean regular spear and kills it. Again, no worker is gained.

The newly arrive enslaver hits a Korean warrior. It goes elite, but fails to get a worker.
The Great Library is one turn away. Sadly, only Canada wants literature, and they are broke.

The new mystery border must be Egypt. I suddenly have contact with them.
(IT) The Great Library is completed.

    275 AD (12)
(IT) The GL rush beings: Republic arrives, and I instantly revolt.
Monarchy arrives and we are happy with anarchy.
Religion arrives and we are happy with anarchy.
    Dark ages is learned.

    300 AD (13)
The elite enslaver attacks a regular Korean spear and dies. :(
The second enslaver kills it. Once again, no worker is gained.
An enslaver attacks 2 Korean workers. The top one is enslaved, and the bottom one captured.

7 horses are upgraded to Cataphract.
(IT) Feudalism and Chivalry arrives for free. The age of discovery has arrived.
The Great Library is already obsolete.
One more tech arrives with Bodkin arrows.
The republic of Arabia has arrived.

    325 AD (14)
The Cataphract can now upgrade to 4-2-2 units.
Spears can be upgraded to pikes.

I ship Maghreb Chivalry for $80 and $46/T.

It takes 44 turns to research Alchemy. The empire isn’t large enough for self-research despite republic.

    350 AD (15)
Two more free unit buildings under construction. School of divinity in Bagdad gives us another city with barracks.

War with Korea is coming. The only question is when. Do we want to wait to see if they complete World Religion Buddhism?

I do not mind waiting for our Golden Age. It helps us more when we have a larger empire.
I am not sure, but I think now that Ishtar Gate is obsolete it will not show up in the build queue (similar to not seeing balloons after they go obsolete).

Guess it is time to make sure every city we own has an Academy and a Marketplace. Also, I will see if I can get 3 temples in total built and enough Islam religions so we can build our religious center.

    I got it.
