4000 BC (0)
The settler is on a bonus grassland tile. I move it one tile to save that precious shield.

3950 BC (1)
Stockholm is founded. Worker houses is ordered up. Research begins on naval warfare.

3700 BC (6)
The borders expand, and there are multiple sources of tobacco available.

3400 BC (12)
(IT) Carthage completes their UW.

3300 BC (14)
(IT) Arabia completes their UW.

3150 BC (17)
It looks like we have a small island. I turn one ship around to head toward a jump zone south of us to another island.

3050 BC (19)
The ship that went south finds another land mass. Based on the grid map, we are at the top. I doubt anything else will be found further north.

3000 BC (20)
I contact Arabia. I gave them sail and $40 for pottery.
I see the borders of another civ.

2900 BC (22)
I contacted South Africa. No trades are possible.

2750 BC (25)
Göteborg was founded. We already control multiple sources of tobacco.

2700 BC (26)
I found a two tile island. I see another piece of land just past that.
(IT) Greece completes the Colossus.

2580 BC (29)
(IT) Arabia establishes an embassy with us.

2260 BC (37)
(IT) Egypt completes their UW.

2220 BC (38)
(IT) An exploring ship died at sea.

2140 BC (40)
(IT) Persia completes their UW.

2060 BC (42)
I ship tobacco to Arabia for spices and $9.
I ship tobacco to South Africa for $145.

1980 BC (44)
(IT) The other exploring ships died at sea. I’m trying to find anywhere to jump over the water to the next island and more contacts.

1940 BC (45)
Uppsala is founded on the coast toward the land mass with Arabia and South Africa.

1780 BC (49)
(IT) Nubia completes their UW.

1740 BC (50)
(IT) Indian completes Stonehenge.

1700 BC (51)
South Africa and Arabia are already at war. Our source of spices went away.
Our rep is intact as Arabia and South Africa will still take GPT for a tech.

I give naval warfare to South Africa for masonry, bronze working, $76 and $1/T.
I give naval warfare to Arabia for wheel and $59.
I see no sources of horses. My only hope is two unexplored tiles.
The next research project is seafaring. As a third-tier tech, the AI should ignore it. It gives us ships that can go over the sea. I hope that gives us a chance for more contacts. This is light in contacts for turn 51.

1500 BC (56)
Our enslaver snags 2 workers from South Africa. However, with another worker 2 tiles away they may die.
(IT) The enslaver is dead. :(

1420 BC (58)
(IT) The Dutch complete Hammurabi’s Code. That means they already have code of laws.

1380 BC (59)
(IT) Italy completes the Pyramids.

Our initial lands and the proposed next city. With a harbor and port it can support all the plains tile mined. Our start is sorely lacking cities with shields.

This is where the multiple trireme are heading to. With all those sea tiles I'm hoping for a path to more civs. Based on the Dutch build there are some civs out there way more advanced.

The ships are for the posted sea area near Arabia. I’m hoping they can jump over the water and find more contacts.

It appears that South Africa and Arabia are the only 2 civs on the nearby island. I’m very happy the are fighting already, as that will burn up there initial unit collection.

This is unique territory for us. I don't think any other CCM game had us starting on a land mass by ourselves.

Did you add any additional boost to the movement of ships ? Good luck to the team! 🍀

Lurker checking in - Good luck to the team of conquerors. Have fun taking over the world!

Pre-turn:

All I do is move a Worker at Goteborg to a tobacco tile for more commerce; Slavery still due in 1.

1260 BC: We meet Japan across the sea! They're up Iron Working, Writing, Polytheism, and Trade. They have 233 gold, Hardwood (0), and Wine (3). They lack Naval Warfare.

We ship them Tobacco for Wine+5g. I'm holding off on tech trades for a couple of turns in hopes of meeting more contacts on the new landmass.

Lux slider to 20%.

...and that first Trireme sank on the IBT

1180 BC: We meet Egypt. They're up IW, Writing, Poly. They have 67 gold and Camel (0). They lack Wheel and NW.

IBT: Our Warrior gets himself captured by a Zulu Enslaver :(

1140 BC: Our Enslaver doesn't catch up with the guy who took our Warrior. Our Scout finds city ruins near the Arabian border.

We ship Tobacco and the Wheel to Egypt for Polytheism and 67 gold.

We ship NW and 196 gold to Japan for Mysticism
We ship Polytheism to Arabia for 2gpt+228g
We ship Polytheism to Zululand for 116g
We ship NW and Myst to Egypt for IW
We ship Myst and IW to Arabia for Trade
We ship Trade to Egypt for Writing

Ugh, we lack Iron as well.

IBT: Enslaver fights off enemy Enslaver

Japan is working on the Lighthouse

1100 BC: Linköping founded next to the Shellfish

Japan and Egypt now have Maths.

IBT: Royal Stables complete

1020 BC: Japan has Riding now, too, and we met Indo-China on the inter-turn.

Unfortunately, Indo-China is broke and backwards.

Lux slider to 30% again

IBT: Egypt complains about our Trireme. We apologize.

980 BC: We meet China! They have Gems and 45 gold but are super backwards. We ship them The Wheel for all they have.

That lets us drop the lux slider to 20%

IBT: Indo-China is now the one to complain about one of our ships. We give them the token apology as well.

This start really sucks for resources. No iron or horses? I hope some of them are on the landmass with South Africa and Arabia. Those will be our first conquests.

Great job of finding new contacts. Looking at your scouting map I see the potential for even more contacts.
Glad we got one good round of trading from it.

One big problem being solo on our land mass is lack of enslaver targets. We really need to grab more workers. So far, I got 2. We need to get a lot more to get our lousy lands improved.

Great turn set.

A good spot for a town is west of Goteborg on the Grassland Pine Forest. It has 4 Hills 3 Plain Tiles and a Whale. It would be a nice town for the Siege Workshop We could speed-up production of the Workshop on by chopping the Plain Pine Forest.

We can't build the School of Navigators until we build a Habor.

We can't build the School of Navigators until we build a Habor.

On this map we very much want that small wonder. More exploring ship would be valuable. IIRC those ships can explorer sea tiles.

What should we do if a civ makes a demand of us?
If it was the Zulu (who can each us quickly), I would give in or try to negotiate a deal. Arabia I am on the fence about, but they probably could not reach us with many troops quickly, so I would either negotiate a deal or refused. I would treat all the other civs we know the same way, they can't reach us quickly so negotiate or refuse.

Also, thinking far ahead, when we reach the limit for building armies and cannot build any more, we should disband "obsolete" armies and replace them with armies containing upgraded troops.

Preturn: Well there is iron next to Saigon. That is the only one I spotted, though one could be on the island with Arabia and Zulu

Early: Lux raised and then lowered when temple completes.
We trade Mysticism and Writing for Riding 55 gold and 2 gpt with the Zulu.
Japan knows city state but it is too expensive.

Mid: Dropped off a Slaver/Scout pair on Arabian Island. This keeps regular units from attacking the Slaver.
27 gpt + 1391 gold for City State from Japan
City State + 85 gold for Mathematics from Egypt.
Revolt for City State.

Late:
Goteborg is building the siege workshop and the capital is building the Acropoplis.
Limes was completed.
We met Rome on island with Indochina (will be hard to tell those apart based on color). They are up Philosophy and Code of Laws.
On the last turn we meet India and trade Naval Warfare for Code of Laws. We just meet a boat so not sure where they will be.

Notes:
Building a road to hills and a whale that looks a decent site for a town. It might have already been suggested. However we could also consider a town on Arabian island while there is still space. Would make war easier in the future.
We can now Irrigate.
Was considering the School of Navigators in Uppsala when the Harbor completes.
Not finding any iron on the Arabian/Zulu island but there are still some hidden squares.
We have two boats waiting if we want to take the next Settler and a defender to the Arabian/Zulu island. I think this is my choice even if the spot is not as good. Near Spices and Pearls (or crabs?) looks decent. Make sure we can get a boat there in 2 turns for shuffling units. I marked my choice of spots in the image.
