Hard to say. That photo is to small to count the shields and food that city will get
In the third screenshot of this post you can clearly see, that a city at that location has 6 luxury resources of spice (one additional food, 4 of them in forest tiles), a camel resource, two tiles with flood plains and the option to construct an harbor in its city radius. The forest tile near that location would hold nearly the same cornucopia, but I wanted to have the city directly next to the camel for the desert fortress and the other location has one flood plain tile less.

About the leader:

According to the post in the following link, armies consisting only of amphibious units should have the amphibious ability, so the army unit itself is not amphibious: https://forums.civfanatics.com/threads/weird-armies.278449/page-2#post-6934253

With getting the above info, I am willing to do spice city next. All the extra food from spice will help it get growing.

Here we go (edit: LOL crosspost!). I count 30 fairly easy food (irrigate fp, plains, 1 desert, build ports)
At size 15, we get 13 base shields
21 with mines just about everywhere
+15 gold from river, camel, and spice tiles

To compare,
Stockholm is 8/8
Goteborg is 8/12
Linkoping is 9/15
Norrkoping is 11/22 natively, 28 w/the Dockyard effect.

The yellow dot from you old post:

would 1 tile NW of yellow dot be a bit better? It grabs a bonus grassland shield plus fewer sea tiles (iirc is less benefit than coast or grassland) while maintaining the same number of productive hills and ocean access.

The yellow dot gets 43 food (counting Ports and rails+irrigation) and 36 base shields (10 from Dockyards, 24 from hills, 2 from the forest)
1NE gets 46 food (3 water tiles turn into grasslands) and 34 base shields (7 from Dockyards and only 1 from the BG)

It's pretty close, but I'd still keep the original spot. Early on, we could get a bit more growth with 1NE while waiting for the Port to build. Late-game, though, we'll appreciate the extra shields.

Mid turn set teasers:

With some trading we became the tech leader and have some gold to use rushing buildings. Here are the latest technologies we know as of 1440 AD:

I was wondering how we traded so much from previous teaser. Philosopher's stone gives that answer.
I see we know gunpowder. Do we have a source of saltpeter, or does our resource rut continue?

Notes and Suggestions:
  • I did not check for Trades this turn (1470 AD).
  • I did not find any Saltpeter in or close to our borders.
    • As you will see in the small shot below, Saigon is close to source of Saltpeter.
  • I moved many of our Workers and Slaves from the Home Island to the newly annexed Island.
  • Unfortunately, the Arabs building Uruk, in my path, delayed my getting Beserkers to Damaskus.

I do agree with the 2 axe army going to 3 when we have a better transport capacity.
When we get access to Saltpeter we can upgrade the Longships to a 4 capacity ship.

I messed up the timing on the forming the Army. I should have started moving it toward the Arabia sooner.

Did you know an empty army can only move 2 spaces on a road?

Your conquered cities picture is out of date. ;)

The pictures are for the lurkers so they can follow our reports. I figured that shot would be shortly out of date. I am just surprised I did not see a report from our Military Adviser. ;)

1470 AD (0)
Swedish late pikes don’t require iron. I’ll work on getting our spears upgraded to them.

Our conquered cities in former South Africa really suck. We are separated by sea, so all the luxuries imported to the capital don’t make it to them. I upped the luxury rate to 30% and hired some clowns to make them happy. This also means that the horses by Damaskus won’t make it home.

I trade our WM to everyone to improve our map knowledge. I gained a nice chunk of GPT, and a lot of cash.
I gave Japan naval guns for 8909. I get another 4593 from Carthage.
(IT) I lost 1 spear. I killed 1 bucket. (1-1)
Mongolia completed there UW.
Machu Picchu completed Christianization.

1480 AD (1)
I gave Greece clockworks for $70 and $36/T. I grab a few scraps from our newest WM.
(IT) Jolly Roger is completed.
I lost 1 bucket and 1 enslaver. (1-3)

1490 AD (2)
The assault on Babylon begins.
I kill 4 Enkidu warriors and 1 bowman. I lost 1 Nordic axemen. (8-4)
I pillaged $17. 2 workers were hiding inside. The obsolete Ishtar Gate is ours.

I killed 1 chariot. (9-4)
(IT) Japan declares war on Carthage.
Italy completed Holy City.

1500 AD (3)
The assault on Akkad begins. I killed 2 Enkidu warriors and 1 bowman. (11-4)
I found 5 workers inside.
The fragile Arabs have left the game.

Our exploring ship has spotted unknown borders.

I give the Dutch theology for a marginal $55 and $34/T.

I killed: 1 ship. (12-4)
(IT) Japan establishes and embassy with us.

1510 AD (4)
I contact the pathetically backwards Poland. I get their map and see several more civs to contact on their landmass. That additional map knowledge lets us get a decent block of money from our WM.

I gave Carthage $4846 for university. Research begins on free artistry. With Japan and Carthage at war I feel we have a good shot for at least one of the free artistry wonders.

1520 AD (5)

1530 AD (6)
I contacted Inca. Inca has cash. I sold them gunpowder for $4765. I sold them naval guns for WM, $8038 and $30/T. I sold them clockworks for $244/T. After I get their map, I see they are eating up Germany. I see multiple cities with German names owned by Inca.
I contacted Germany. Germany is backwards and pretty much broke.
I contacted Austria. I found yet another civ still in the last era.
I contacted Turkey. They are in the same era, but still broke.
Thanks to the new map knowledge from the Inca, I picked up another block of cash for WM. I’d much rather we have the cash to keep rushing buildings.

1540 AD (7)

1550 AD (8)
I gave Persia bodkin arrows for $163, and $25/T.
The Inca gives us an insane $42 and $100/T for a new WM.
I grab scraps of cash from the other civs. Universities are absurdly expensive to rush.

1560 AD (9)
I gave Persia medieval combat for $129 and $38/T.
I gave the Dutch clockworks for $127 and $141/T.
I gave Greece printing press for $72 and $87/T.
I gave Oceania dark ages for $12 and $53/T.

1570 AD (10)
I give Persia clockworks for $97 and $91/T.
I give Oceania world religions for $68 and $67/T.
I give Turkey renaissance for Saltpeter and $2.
I upgraded a chunk of our pikes at home to muskets. Sadly, we can’t do that in our conquered land mass due to needing sea routes.
I grab a bit of cash again for our maps. We are making out like bandits in the map trading business.

The ship stack is heading home. I want to upgrade them to better ships. I want the 4th unit of transport capacity. In addition, they can move through ocean tiles once upgraded.

Most of our offensive troops are by Damascus. I’ve been swapping out pikes for axemen guarding cities. Our big military weakness is still defensive units. Some are still needed for the recent conquests. In addition, the offensive troop stack has NO defensive units.
This was 10 rounds of accelerated building with all the cash I got. Keep rushing buildings every other turn. Once that is done, we can shift to military from cities with castles / barracks.
Please shift the units at home around to finish the upgrades to muskets.
I see at least another 10 to 20 turns of peace while we take a break to get the buildings completed. That makes it the perfect time to send the ships home for upgrades.
The more cash you can grab from the civs, the faster we go back into conquest mode. I’ve drained most of the other civs cash except for the leaders of Japan and Carthage. Despite rushing like a madman, we still have $11,062 to rush and upgrade with.

I agree 100% that Indochina is the next target. However, those resources won’t make it home until after mercantilism is researched. That is another reason I feel this is the perfect time to push buildings hard.

The workers north of Visby are getting ready for the arrival of the next clan. That spot still needs defensive pikes once the clan arrives.

The 3 workers that just landed near Cape Town are to build roads on the tile and connect it to the road network. That spot is the perfect spot for a one-turn shuffle from our home island.
After that there is plenty of work to do in the area. Zimbabwe needs all the plains tiles irrigated to get decent growth.

I’m hoping that Norrkoping can build at least once of the wonders from free artistry.

With Japan and Carthage at war they may ignore those wonders. My preference is the one giving free theaters. Free artistry is 11 turns away. That number will drop next turn with a lot of rushed universities this turn.
