Mid-turn set teaser: I built it for the extra settler.

Continuing 540BC:
Switch NYC to building Mausoleum of Mausollos. Rush Granary in Philly and rush Publishing House in Boston.

500 BC: Workers work.

475 BC: Atlanta is founded.

IBT: Near Hamburg, Enslaver killed by invisible unit (0, 1).

450 BC – 425 BC: Workers work.

400 BC: We make contact with the Lowlands. They know 1 Tech we don’t (Naval Warfare).

IBT: We get Naval Warfare from the Great Library.
NYC builds the Mausoleum of Mausollos

375 BC: Pittsburg is founded.

IBT: We get Religion from the Great Library.

350 BC - 325 BC: Workers work.

IBT: We lose our supply of Silk.

300 BC: We have Iron hooked up :) swap some builds to Workshops.

We Trade Religion to Portugal for Silk 104 gold and 25 gpt.
We sell Religion to the Zulu for 43 gold and 47 gpt.
We sell Religion to the Japan for 90 gold and 27 gpt.
We sell Religion to the Germany for 47 gold and 68 gpt.
We sell Religion to the Lowlands for 43 gold and 12 gpt.
We sell Religion to the Britain for 24 gold and 71 gpt.

275 BC: Workers work.

Screenshots with some suggested city sites will be in my next post.

Notes and Suggestions:
  • I left a Settler unmoved since we need to decide on a spot.
    • We have 3 sources of settlers.
  • I think it is inefficient to use 2 workers to build a piece of road in 2 turns. It is better to have them work separate tiles and build 2 pieces of road in 3 turns.
  • We might want to consider boosting our research to 80% for 16 turns and learning World Religions in 16 turns. This should give us a good chance of building Worldreligion Christianity.
  • I missed hooking up the Hardwood by Atlanta and building the Ballista shop in NYC.

Here is our empire as of 257 BC. Of the 3 spots shown, I like the yellow spot.

Here are some spots further north. I realize that yellow from above is now green. I really like the production potential of the Red spot site. I think it would be a good spot for the Capitol small wonder.

275 BC (0)
There isn't anything I can do about it, but I don't like Siege Workshop in New York. I suspect that the city will build most of our wonders. I don't like wasting our limited barracks here.

The settler is moving toward Joe's green dot.

250 BC (1)
(IT) Our exploring scout was killed.
Our enslaver survived an attack. We need them protected by spears. The game chooses enslaver as a defender before chariots.
World religion comes our way.

225 BC (2)
I rush some churches to start building world religion Christianity.
Our workers head toward hardwood to get it connected.

200 BC (3)
I thank Britain for another worker.

175 BC (4)
Seattle is founded on green dot.
I contact the very backwards French.
(IT) Construction comes our way.

150 BC (5)
I send Brittan world religions for a worker, $3 and $9/T. You can never have enough workers.
I rush workshops in Pittsburgh. This is going to be a long term shield monster, and I want the School of Divinity barracks in it.
(IT) I lost an enslaver. I really hate that they are selected before horses / chariots.

125 BC (6)
Our enslaver dies attacking an enslaver. :(
(IT) Carthage completes the Great Lighthouse.

100 BC (7)
Another settler arrives in New York.
Pittsburgh rushes slavery.
(IT) School of Navigators is completed. We will soon have ships that can explore sea tiles.

75 BC (8)
(IT)A chariot lost to an enslaver.
We gain seafaring.

50 BC (9)
Our enslaver gets revenge for the dead chariot, but no new worker.
The two exploring ships have met. We know the size of our continent.
I rush publishing house in Pittsburgh.
(IT) We gain republic.
The enslaver trapped between Britain and Germany was killed.
We are doing horrid in the enslavement part of the game.
World religion Christianity is ours.
I tripped our GA without planning to.
New York starts up an aqueduct. Statue of Liberty is queue up behind it since a GA is tripped already.

25 BC (10)

I expected us to have an early edge, but I didn't think it would be this strong.
Pittsburgh is going to be a shield monster. It is building School of Divinity for the barracks.

There are two more settlers on the map. I'm proposing blue dot and yellow dot. Both will be good shield cities.
I prefer blue dot first. This is the gateway city into Britain. They have NO iron or horses. That makes them a great target. I want to ensure that we have access to them.
Yellow dot aligns nicely with German borders and will be another good shield city.

If another good wonder comes up, feel free to delay Statue of Liberty. That can work as an indefinite prebuild

We should spend some of our cash income on rushing buildings to get our towns developed quicker.

Getting World Religion so quick is a surprise, someone must be able to learn tech quickly.
I like the 2 new city sites you suggested.
Divinity School In Pittsburgh is a good spot. Pittsburgh needs its Mountain and Hills mined.

Because we are Industrious, the slave in the worker, slave pair building a road northwest of Pittsburgh is not necessary. The worker can build a road in 3 turns without the Slave. Better to send the slave to Atlanta and help those slaves there, or a Worker + Slave can irrigate a tile in 3 turns vs a Worker alone taking 4 turns.

We should spend some of our cash income on rushing buildings to get our towns developed quicker.

Check my report. I rushed multiple buildings in Pittsburgh so that School of Divinity was able to start by the end of my set.

Looking back, Seattle should have at least rushed the granary.

Looks like an extraordinary start this go 'round!

Got my popcorn!

Before NYC starts building the Statue of Liberty it should first build Administrative Center and the Ballista Shop. It would then be possible for NYC to build the Statue of Liberty in 9 turns. However it could build the Statue of Liberty in 8 turns if it borrows the mined forest from Washington.

We should spend some of our cash income on rushing buildings to get our towns developed quicker.
What I should have written was: We should rush buildings in newly founded towns to get them developing quicker. Now that we get a free Christian Community in every city here is the order I think we should rush buildings in them:
1. Granary (besides quicker growth, it gives culture); 2. Walls; 3. Migrant Workers; 4. If available Harbor; 5. Workshop
I would let each building build for 1 turn then rush it.

Pre-turn:

I look around, but I don't change anything.

IBT:
Germany boots us
We lose Wines. Zulus have 3 sources; I let them go for now to save the 20gpt

50 AD IBT:
Enemy Enslaver dies against one of our wandering Horsemen
Marauding Tactics come in.

75 AD IBT:
School of Divinity completes.

100 AD:
San Francisco settled on Blue Dot.
Native Horseman trips over an Enslaver and runs him down.
I sell Horses to the Zulu for Wine and 2gpt.

IBT: British and Germans both boot us.

Carthage completes Worldreligion Islam
Both Scoutships sink

We get another Settler in NY

125 AD IBT:
And ANOTHER Settler in NY!

150 AD IBT: We lose a Horseman to a Holy Man of some sort at the British border.
The Kiwis complete the Moai Statues

175 AD:

Enslaver kills the Holy Man

Houston settled on Yellow Dot

IBT:
One of our Enslavers near the British border dies (sounds like another Enslaver killed him)
Dark Ages comes in.
We lose Silks!

200 AD:

Our Enslaver kills the other Enslaver from the IBT

225 AD and handoff notes:

I have two Settlers on the move -- one heading S of Washington, one headed for the Yellow Dot from the Jersey Joe's "further north" screenie

We can build Early Barracks, so I built a couple and have been producing some military. We could go after Britain for a short war soon, I think.

Elephantium, nice catch building the Early Barracks. :yup:

We should build mines in Pittsburgh sooner rather than later.

I wonder how long before we are back filling mediocre cities due to running out of room. The parade of settlers is crazy.

We need those enslavers protected by spears. Too many are being lost. We need more workers.

I can't tell from the report if NYC is working on SOL, or a different wonder.

NYC is working on the SOL it is due in 2 turns.

Wild idea, when we start our campaign to annex the British to our benevolent democracy we could raze a large city or 2 for slaves and use our settlers to replace those cities.

That isn't so wild. We are drowning in settlers, but have done terrible in worker acquisition. With more cities we need above average worker count. IMO our enslavement has been below average.
