I was away all weekend: here and enjoying every second of it. Meldor's skip came too late for me to notice.

I cannot play on tuesdays, but monday and wednesday should be ok. Hotrod: If you can finish and upload within 20 hours from now; I can play monday evening. That is if LK allows me back in.

Quick update: Start and 2 turns completed.

Highlights: No AI units remain in our territory and we got 2 new armies. 1 is cav and building up 1 of infantry for future pillage duty. Only 2 babylon towns remain on the West coast then we can concentrate on the Middle east. Capital builds infantry every turn but pollution is already annoying.

Oh yeah I stole refining from Russia and traded to Austrailia for steel. We have 1 hooked up oil and 2 or maybe 3 others on Africa that aren't in our boarders YET or aren't connected yet. There is an oil shortage with a few civs without Oil.

Russia has completed Hoover as expected and they are loaded but they are at war with virtually everyone.

1300 AD (0): All I can think about when I play this is paint is "Paint it Blank" Any way good to see the Red Devils to the NW are off our lands. Now the on towards the Blue to the East. Plant new Islandwana 2 on Lee's red dot and protect it with a few infantry and spare rifles. Hold of any attacks until the artillery and better hit the incoming infantry and we have healthy cav armies. Well trading looks out of the question so I plant a spy in Babylon. Cherry pick a redlined infantry and kill but no leader. Well don't want to risk ticking off the neighbors we aren't at war with and I know Russia is ahead in tech so i go for the immediate steal and we learn Refining. I know I can trade it to Austrailia right away so I do for steel and 70 gold. Isn't much bet took tech over gold. Can't get squat from Persia. And everyone else we are either way ahead or way behind in tech.

INBT: Aztecs sign with India against Venezuela. Songhai and India vs Argentina and Iroquois and France. Venezuela and Egypt make peace.

1305 AD (1): Finish couple coal plants and infantry every turn is nice. Immediately have pollution to deal with. New Intombe builds a courthouse starts on a library. Few towns get happy and celebrate. Our good friends Russia completed Hoover DAMN :mad:. A couple armies and artillery took out 7 infanty. Veto coal plant in food heavy bapedi for a hospital first. Plan to clear out remaing Russian units and move our artillery toward the junk Babylon cities in the West. Hmm can't get much for our techs but Aztecs will pay something for steel. Not enough I think and decide to wait. still can't pry AT from Persia.

INBT: India and Venezuela make peace. China and Songhai sign against russia. Babylon and China ally againt Russia. Russia pulls Iroquios in against us and see 2 empty garbage towns that will be lost. Those 2 also sign up against Persia. Russia and argentina make peace. Songhai and persia make peace.

1310 AD (2): Build a few infantry and start some more. A few hospitals in food rich towns and couple libraries. See our first Babylon infantry at least on my watch. Kill a red infantry and we get a leader. Build an army that will be filled with cavs if possible of maybe an infantry army to go on a pillaging spree. Destroy Bab town of Nioro for 10 gold. Only Sippar remains and will be dealt with shortly. Another elite vicotry and we have another empty army to fill.

IBNT: Mongols and India sign a MPP and an alliance vs Argentina and Brazil. Brazil and France vs. Iroquois. France and Aztecs vs Mongols. Iroquios sign Mongols against us. Russia and Mongols against France. Mongols declare on China and Russia.

1315 AD (3): Zim infantry, take a turn for a library as we may be starting self reseach soon. Ulundi gets its library starts hospital. Isandhlwana builds infantry starts on its university. New Bapedi finished its factory starts on coal plant. Ngome 2 builds a temple starts on an explore to eventually join our pillage stack. Moving our new infantry army with artillery and 2 other cav armies to begin looking at hit the choke towns. Found New Intombe 2 in the NW desert to fill in the Northern area start temple ofcourse. Moving artillery in position to soften up Sippar for our armies.

INBT: Brazil and Persia make peace. Russia signs Argentina into a war against us one of the random towns will be lost so need to find a place to send it I think. Just couldn't see wasting gold on infantry for a town that doesn't mean anything. Argentina signs with Russia against china. Babylon wants peace :lol:. France and Persia sign up against Austrailia.

1320 AD (4): Zim builds a library starts a cavalry. A new settler from Memphis. With the war against Babylon moving ahead soon we may need to rush a few settlers to fill in gaps. Intombe builds a coal plant starts its library. Swazi factory starts on a hospital. New Hlobane gets market starts a library. New Umtata a settler starts another. Raze Sippar easily after the artillery hit the infantry. Rather than lose our 2 crap towns I gift them to our good friends Persia and Australia.

INBT: Mongols bring Songhai into war with Iroquios. Austrailia and Aztecs make peace. France and Aztecs against China. Mongols bring Australia against us and we lose our fur supply. Egypt and Russia vs. BAbs. China/Babs embargo. Austrailia and Persia make peace.

1325 AD (5): Zim builds a cav. Starts another. Mpondo builds a coal plant starts a hospital. Russia tried to plant a spy. Now we lost our wines?? Capture Nippur and raze it to the ground. There is a settler in the are but not placed. Eridu is razed without breaking a sweat. Babylon is not long for this world. Found African Choke on the choke. Most active Armies and artillery are there and available to move if the next player so desires. Well over pay but we get venzuelan wines for Ivory and communism. Buy Indian Spices for Ivory WM and 290 gold.

I did no other diplo checks. Combustion is known, we are still in no position to self research but we have enough gold for a steal.

Yes, sounds like the jugernaut is starting to roll.

We may want to consider at least one infantry army to use on the defensive, should Russia be first to tanks. I am not certain Cavalry armies will be immune against tanks.

I really am starting for feel like I am talking to myself and noone is listening. BOYCOTT France, Persia and India Don't send them any luxuries. We need to slow the techs monsters down, not improve there science and production rates.

We are getting very close to self-research. :D
If we converted all taxman to scientist and ran at the 100% science (we can afford it) we could research combustion in around 20 turns. We are not quite there, but I notice another 2 libraries and a university about to come on-line. We may be as little as 20 turns from self-research. We need to get a few more cities to the 18 to 20 range, and a few more science buildings.

I checked and at 100% combustion comes in at something like 23 turns. That was whne only Russia had it. Now a few others have it and a few libraries came online. It is probably less now.

As far as the libraries/universities they should be completed quickly in towns that already have factories/coal plants and hospitals. In some instances I choose hospitals over libraries just due to the overwhelming wasted food some towns have.

Our military is much stronger than Babylon and think that their mainland towns shouldn't last more than 10 turns.

Also on the tech front Russia is the leader and India and France are slowly catching them. Then Australia and Persia behind them and then us. The Americas civs are still far behind. We have gold to make another steal if we so desire.

Tanks should be right around the corner!

Can we extort a tech from them once we want to go to peace ?
We will have quite some force nearby if we spearhead towards the Hoover city.
( And that has to have priority, otherwise Russia may drown us in their production. )

Mongols are behind us in tech, at least before they entered into the war against us. Russia is as war with virtually everybody else. Hopefully the will have enough opposition to stem there expansion. From the looks of things I don't believe they have expanded too too much.

I think we are will be in better position when the first tanks start rolling off the lines. Oil is scarce and we have 1 source hooked up and IIRC 2 others that will be in our boarders sooner rather than later.

Once we get rid of Babylon we should get a ROP through Persia, our partners vs Russia, and move a force as Grimjack says to take out Hoovers. I don't know how feasible it is to try an hold it. Razing Hoover !! ???? :eek: Maybe the best move for us as the coal plants are pushing our production to the 100+ shield mark quite nicely, and holding Hoover deep in enemy territory would be difficult at best.

The only type I have ever razed Hoover is in a 5CC conquest game. I really don't want to be destroy that wonder. I positively HATE coal plants and the extra pollution caused by them. I simply don't want to have to keep filthy coal plants in our cities.

However, first things first. We need to take out the core of Babylon and lock down the Middle East that has no oil. :crazyeye:

Our position will greatly improve when the Pyramids and Sun Tzu belong to us.

As for the discussion on tanks I am in NO rush to get them. That AI is at its weakest fighting infantry before tanks. A human with lots of our artillery can rip the AIs apart.
 
Agreed Hoover is must have given the pollution headache the coal plants cause.

I just wonder how hard it will be to hold on to it once we get it.

SunZu and Pyramids and we will have a very nice boost. Our artillery stack is very adequate for the Babs but I think we need to make an effort to get more so we can hammer the larger towns we will soon be up against. I think I saw New Delhi at size 32. Just think about the free labor :whipped:

I supsect we will be in continuos expansion mode from now on, so the largest risk in losing Hoover would be a flip. This could be countered by keeping a small force garrisoned right outside.

Main thing I want is that we expand towards this part of Asia, rather than northwards into Europe, even though the front will be much longer, hopefully we are now producing some infantry, which will be able to garrison.

I've played 2,5 turns an captured Babylon. Our forces are ready to eat up the Babylonian holdings in the Arabian peninsula. And we are nearing tech equality; only Russia has flight at a monopoly up on us.

I say we keep Hoover's. At the moment we are building armies in 5 turns; just 1 or 2 of them filled with Infs is enought withstand attacks. And against flipping is the "raze the surroundings" tactic good enough.
