The documents in French and other languages on the game loading screen - the same screen where you normally see hints.

Ah, I got it. They are excerpts from some famous books in their native languages - military books on the right, humanist teachings on the left. Aristotle's Ethics, More's Utopia, Avesta, Russeau's On the Social Contract on the left, and Caesar's Commentarii de Bello Gallco, Sun Tzu's Art of War, Clausewitz's On War and Zhukov's Reminiscences and Reflections.
