Locking the BIOS?

In school, I tried popping a Knoppix CD in, only to find I couldn't use it as the technicians had "locked" the BIOS. :( Any way to get past it?

Thanks.

Not likely, unless you want to go inside the case and manually reset it. That's a good way to get into trouble, however.

What lutzj said. There's usually a jumper near the battery that you can use to reset the BIOS, but that's a bad idea unless you know the previous BIOS settings, and likely to piss people off, and likely to get you caught, and you can break the computer doing it if you mess up.

I don't know the previous settings, so I'd better not risk it. Plus they put locks on the cases, too, due to students stealing the components.

I assumed OP meant they had put a password lock on the BIOS screen.
