Trying to play a balseraph game again. Loki is confusing the hell out of me.

The disrupt spell is the main cause of confusion. how does it work? The pedia entry has no hard numbers.

I've tried casting it in a rival city, and it doesn't do anything to their culture. I checked the value before and after. it doesn't drop, so what gives?

I did however, find out that I could follow settlers around, and just take newly built cities as as soon as they're put down. 5 cities before turn 80, yay.

Drops the culture by 1 or 2, but not guaranteed.

Obviously if the city is generating culture, it will replace that easily, thus disrupt is only useful against new cities founded by non-creative leaders.

Now entertain on the other hand is always nice for some free gold, if you have the patience to cast it every turn. :p

There should be a "repeat the last action infinitely until I say otherwise" button. Entertain would be really usable if you did not need to click on the spell button every single turn.

in ur empire, takin ur cities
Yep. I once let the Hippus build me an entire empire - every time they'd found a city I'd snag it with Loki. It works fine - there's a short window of time, but if it were longer it'd be pretty cheesy, and Loki is already the best scout in the entire game as it stands.

Basically, think of it like this - loki can steal any new city not founded by a creative leader where there have been no culture buildings constructed.

Two points:

You can use Loki to capture cities that another civ has just captured (ie get two guys banging on each other and you can reap the benefits without losses or WW).

Every city swayed will give a "-4 Past events" modifier.

If this is too hard to implement, Loki creating a special building for either the culture drain or gold entertainment as long as he's standing there might work without having to click him each turn. Don't want to accidentally let him create both the positive and negative effect at once though (i.e., creating something like "Loki's Dark Circus of Negative Culture" and "Loki's Bright Revel of Fun for Gold" at the same time).

I played a game once where the Hippus had a city advantage and were sending waves of units against me. There was a chokepoint between us, and I was defending it, but they would periodically overwhelm me and break through to my roads (Tasunke :( ). Whenever that happened I'd offer them a city for peace, and then immediately regain control of it by having Loki Disrupt. Tasunke was not happy with me, but he kept taking the deal (sucker).

Loki is scarily powerful against Agnostic civs. No religion means no quick way to get culture until at least mid to late game techs and civics. I was playing one game where I took and razed at least five of his cities, putting him back to only his capital. Boy was he mad at me. :D

If this is too hard to implement...

Shouldn't be. Non spell actions (like worker actions and bombardment and such) can be queued up indefinitely. The "one spell per turn" locking feature prevents this from working as normal, but should be pretty easy to fix.
