Long Term Plans / Vision for WTP [IMPORTANT]

Well guys,

we often stumble over ideas and then we inform you about stuff like the concepts below.
(All full concepts that already exist.)

This is written without a certain priority:
(Just listed the concepts as I found them in my local repository.)
  1. Actual Triangle Trade (already on the "planned todo-list")
  2. Europe Travel System Rebuild (transforming "Travel Time" into "Travel Distance")
  3. Cultural Pressure System (Cities swapping Owners by Culture)
  4. Connection and Distance to Capitol (Road and Sea Connections)
  5. Trade Route System Overhaul (On Todo-List already since quite a while)
  6. Seaways System (Adapting DoaNE or creating a new implementation?)
  7. More challenging War of Independence (improving King AI and WOI strategies)
  8. Social Progress System (WTP enhanced better Tech System)
  9. Promotion System Overhaul allowing to specialize Units for very specific roles
  10. Military / Combat System Overhaul with e.g. Collateral Damage and Ranged Attacks for Artillery
  11. Diplomacy and International Trade Overhaul for new Diplomacy Options, Trade Options and Military Agreements
  12. Pirate Nation and Pirate Raids as new Barbarian Civ with own gameplay elements
  13. Religions of the New World as real game mechanic for competing religions
  14. Immigration System Overhaul (immigration as a competition by additional shared pool)
  15. Upkeep and Taxation (basically preventing steam rolling / snowball wins)
  16. Dynmamic City Screen (similar to what Melcher Kürzer did)
  17. Expansion of Nation specific Units and Buildings (for more diversity and asymmeteric gameplay)
  18. Worker XP System / Gathering Boat XP System (to make Worker Units more interesting)
  19. Enhanced Achievement System / Golden Years (actually more a small system but some potential)
  20. Neutral Traders (Italian Trades - as new Nation ingame - stopping at your colonies to trade)
  21. Civic System Overhaul (rebuilding the completely boring current Civic System to something fun)
  22. Loyalty to the Motherland (rivaling game concept to Liberty Bells)
  23. "Natural Wonders" (more of a "crazy brainstorming" at the moment - but interesting)
  24. "Storytelling with Unique Units" (more of a "crazy brainstorming" at the moment - but interesting)
  25. ...

To simplify the vision:

1. More interesting game mechanics that still feel "natural"
2. More challenge and competition and diversity
3. More flavour and immersion - fitting new World

Now maybe you get a feeling for "my vision" ... :dunno:
I just hope it does not sound too bad ...

Have some patience and step by step I will introduce all those concepts to you. :thumbsup:
I have had 13 years to think about that stuff and refine it to make sure it can be done and could be fun.

To avoid misunderstandings this just "my private vision". :)
The vision of complete WTP team still needs to be discussed and clarified. :thumbsup:

And also the "vision of the team" changes every time the team setup changes.
Thus we need to figure out step by step - release by release - what we do. :grouphug:

I would like to add "better traderoute system". It was my plan to have looked into that by now, but I have been doing all sorts of other tasks, mainly various bugfixes.

The vision of complete WTP team still needs to be discussed and clarified.
Even if it is the team goal, it might not be in a year or two. It all depends on development and what competing ideas people can come up with.

The details of the concepts should still be discussed, changed and agreed of course within the team. :)
Just wanted to outline what I would like WTP to become very very long term.

By the way:
I tried to keep all concepts already rejected off the list.
(I hope I did not accidently add one again.)

Just bumping this thread again, because I have updated the list a bit. :)
(Some of the points were implemented now already and thus could removed fromt he "long term list".)

Each day, we get a tiny bit closer. :thumbsup:
