After recieving conquests yesterday and after 15 hours of play i notice a change not only in the ai strategy but in the longbowmen. Not only will it now fire on my units like a cannon will( while its stacked with other units), but it really kick the crap out of my cavarly!

I managed to beat a few but i went thought 10-15 calvary before i change my ways of dealing with this unit on steriods.

Anyone else see this change?

Cheers

I noticed the same thing in my recent Conquests games. Archers do the same thing (bombard when attacked). Longbowmen were always good attackers but suck at defense. I also see that the AI seems to be better with its navy now and uses lots more ships. Just some observations.

Are you saying it's got a defensive bombard now?

That's right all archer/longbowmen units can fire off a shot at attacking units when stacked with other units. :goodjob:

Before C3C the only use I had for archers was the archer rush. Never used longbows except in desperation. Now however I find that I usually send at least one archer/longbowmen with my stacks to provide "covering fire". :)

Just throw a couple archers into your SoD and whenever an enemy attacks, sometimes an archer bombards. It has a bombard value of 1. I think that the Longbowman has a bombard of 2.

IIRC, the bombard value of both the Longbowman and Archer is 0, so that it will only bombard on defence and never on offence.

Nope, just checked the editor. Archer bombard strength 1, longbowman bombard strength 2. Your thinking of bombard range
