Never used any forums but c+c section, so i hope im adhering to all rules...
I have a 200x150 scenario map, and i am looking to (quadruple?) it to 400x300. It is common knowledge that with big maps, even at the lowest graphic settings you still get a failed to allocate video memory message. Also, it will have an amount of civs in the 100s or 200s appearing and disappearing throughout the ages, no mroe than 50 at a time. Mainly, my focus is the graphic crash, because it renders the game so totally unplayable on big maps.
The main question is, more memory for what I want, or better graphic card. My guess has been graphics card but I have seen some mention of more memory instead.
And if you have a graphics card in mind (supposing that's what I need more) please suggest it, I know there are several that have issues with this game and with games period.
I currently have 1 gig ram and a 256mb x300 (ati i think), which is a little strained by this game on huge + maps.
Any reccomendations are appreciated greatly, thanks!

I'll either have enough for a far better graphics card or another gig of memory (supposing theres a free slot in my computer, curse you dual channel ram).
