I'm looking for a (free) large online repository of maps.
The maps I am really looking for are detailed maps of north and south america that match. I need differing amounts of detail depending on the location, but the locations cover a lot of both continents in one way or another.
Imagine a video of a map of south-western ontario, zooming out, and moving across to new york. it them zooms out again and moves into south america. Ideally, the transitions between the different maps used shouldn't be noticed.. so, all these detailed maps of both continents need to be drawn the same way.
Is anything like that even out there? If I can get some lists of (free) online repositories of maps, I could go from there and figure it out..

I tried googling, but only came up with historical maps, maps you can buy, maps of specific regions, or any combination of the 3.
