So for the fun of it, I decided this Christmas to treat myself a little bit and play an insanely overpowered map: http://www.realmsbeyond.net/civ/c4tourney/adv41.html

It's an old adventure from Realms Beyond but the start is absolutely insane: an entire subcontinent to yourself and pretty much a resource and/or river every tile, with all the wonder resources. So I thought I'd try a sub turn 250 space victory here. At first it was pretty promising - I Oracle'd civil service at turn 72(!) and got education on turn 114. Mids specialists carried me for a long time...but eventually I petered out late game, and my tech progress slowed considerably. It took me over 60 turns from the time I started building Apollo (t199) to when I won (t263). My question is - could I have won space faster on this map? I did classic state property strats (though I did lib electricity because the commerce boosts were too good to pass up) and didn't conquer anyone since building a military would've slowed my tech pace. Should I have gone corps and/or bulldozed Monty instead? How could I have finished this in under 250 turns?

PS - this save requires a mod to open, but the download should be in the link provided.

I suspect quite a few here won't bother with that mod, unless they wan to try it or actually played that at one point. (I used to play some of those RB adventures, but don't think I tried this one)

So some screenshots would be nice. Mainly land, cities, and something that showed max tech rate. It sounds like you did some good things early, but honestly some early warfare is usually good for space. More land = more beakers and more production. Closer to Dom limit the better. On this level it should have been easy with your early advanced teching. Also, just making the wrong decisions on later game tech priority/paths, builds, etc. Was it beakers at issue or production, or both? Did you run some later Golden Ages?

Can't speak to Corps vs. SP without seeing the map. Corps can be very strong on the right maps with the right resources. SP usually always strong on more land focused maps...you can't really go wrong with it if you know how to use it.

Oh..what leader did you use? Gandhi would be sick with those traits.

Seems rather unfocused...

IMHO, then one goes SP one should...
a) be very large or at least very stretched so cost cut has bigger impact. No way AI should be close in score (I can't see Cathy's techs and land, sorry)
b) be very focussed on hammer tiles (farms are okay, but not at ship launch stage) and mostly build hammer multipliers. Maybe cottaged cap, but outside dodging all research multiplier buildings is the best lure to SP (for me)

I think SP was the right play here, but...yeah...just way to little land. Most of that continent should be yours. Maybe vassal Mansa for teching.

What I see looks pretty good though. Once teching is out of the way, you can bulldoze cottages for hammers. The forests south of Calcutta can be used for space parts as well in nearby cities.

Your date is still pretty good, but could be improved with more land.
