Loving the game, but disappointed with the variety of civilizations?

Compared to Civilization V at least, which had such a great variety, even without mods. The game is great, but I can't wait for more civs to be added.

How the hell is there no Persia?

Eh, Civ V only had 18 vanilla civs. It needed two expansions and multiple other DLCs to get the variety that you remember.

And actually, most of the launch civs were the same. Only Songhai, Persia, Iroquois, Siam, and Ottomans are missing. Instead, you get Scythia, Sumeria, Norway, Kongo, Spain, Brazil, and a second leader for Greece.

It's nice that Greece has two leaders, but honestly I would rather they have just released another civ like maybe persia or the ottomans, which gives the game more geographical variety.

I like what I have from the vanilla Civ VI. We have exciting new Civs like Schytia, Sumer, and Kongo. I just wish we have no America and Brazil, and got Iroquois and Inca instead.

Persia was not in the first release of Civilization, but all of the subsequent releases featured Persia. I have faith that Persia will appear, either as a DLC or in an expansion.

It is nice to see historical civilizations not previously represented e.g. Kongolo. And it is nice to see important historical civs return, such as Sumeria. However, I think Persia is one of the essential civs, along with China, Egypt, England, etc.

That was a real let down. I missed Darius he was funny. Hopefully a modder will fix this and also put in Augusta as well.

Maybe because Persia and Scythia overlap so much.

Ya but I don't regret it. Aztecs will come eventually, it's that some core civs are going to be sold as DLCs that bothers me.

I disagree OP, what I see is an amazing lineup. More unique stuff per Civ than ever, agendas and fantastic animations. Great job Firaxis.

Regarding DLC. There are plenty of other threads for that discussion, so I'll only say, those against it haven't really thought it through.

Erm, so if you then bought the game on release anyway you just intentionally missed out on the pre-order bonus? Happily write that off as "it's going to come anyway" and then immediately complain that the other things which are going to come anyway under the same model as existed the entire way through Civ V aren't available at launch....hmmm...I'm not seeing how that makes pre-orders foolish.

How is the lineup not varied enough?? It's hands down the most unique civ-lineup ever at launch, both in terms of chosing unexpected and varied civs/leaders and their unique abilities.

Didn't some Russian streamer claim Persia was in the game files?
