Dont stay, Run away. He's Ordered assassination. Dont stay, run away. The Henchmen are gathered and waiting. Dont stay, run away. Your role as usurper is found out. Dont stay, run away. Zarina has warned of the danger. -Mastodon, The Czar.

Hey people.
My first NES, M&ANES (Mercenaries and Assasins, http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=320815) went pretty well, until something happened that i am not fond of telling you about. This will be a NES that charts the events afterwards. Anyone that participated in the original M&A, will probably find their charecters somewhere in the story. Some will have more important roles than others, and some might be hard to guess, but thats how itl be. Now... before the rules... Story.

Dont, ever, think youre invincible. Thats fatal. - Nila, Chosen of Sillien

When everything is going perfectly, people tend to think theire invincible. When people reach this point, it is a fact, that something bad will happen. In this case, the "Invincible" ones, were The Black Spectres. They ruled everything. Everyone. The Black Spectre was a known name in 7 of the 13 planes. In fact, most others thought they were invincible too. But they werent. The Ashlord showed them that.

In the middle of their greatness, a powerfull magician attacked their main base, Nokrath. He controlled a army of strange, molten creatures, and to make his army unbeatable, he had a giant, floating fortress with the firepower to blow up most of the planet. He took control of the land. He were called the Ashlord by his servants, and he liked the name, so he kept it. He was a wise ruler. A iron-hand-ruler, but a wise iron-hand-ruler.

But strangely enough, the Ashlord were only interested in this one land. He did not try to conquer any more than that. He didnt even have spies, forts, colonies or sentries out of this one land. So, on a new shore, the survivors of the Magmawar started over. But ofcourse, it didnt take long before the factions started fighting over things. And then, the carreer choice of Mercenary or Assasin, were once again possible.

Welcome to Inkita! - Morlak, The Sunwolf Tribe Cheiftan

Rules:
Okay. Here are some basic rules:
Spoiler Game Basics :
Okay: Basicly, this is a NES about taking missions, gaining gold, backstabbing "Freinds", stealing stuff, buying stuff, rising in the ranks of your faction and much more.

Each day your charecter will have THREE (that is 3, for anyone that cant understand. Get it? Three = 3!) action points. With a action point, you can do one of the following actions:

Mission: Complete a mission from the bulletin board. (only doable once per day.)
Steal: Attempts to steal a item from a player or npc. Or shop, =P
Aquire Information: You tell me what you want information about, and how youl try to get it. Il fix the rest.
Sabotage: If you dont want another person to complete a mission, you can PM me that you want to sabotage his mission BEFORE he starts it.
Help: Help a player with a mission. Like sabotage, just more freindly =)
Explore: Go explore ancient ruins or something. 50% chance for treasure!
Training: To do this, you must specify how you want to train, what tools youl use (optional), where you want to train, who you want to train with (optional) and how long. Depending on combination, you can learn new secret abilities or perhaps even get a class change!

Other actions do NOT require action points.
When you do a action, you tell me what you want to do OOC, and then you write a lil story about you starting the task. If the story is Neat, theres more chance youl succeed. When ive read the story and agreed to its contents, il write the rest of the story =) If you dont want me to make up the rest of the story just from what your char can do, gimme some mission tactics too =)

Spoiler Rolling :

Rolling is simple. You post an action and say for example "Roll: Charged Arcane Orb", and i will roll one of my shiny D20. Rolling is only required for the more "Epic" or Advanced acts, so dont roll on everything.

Spoiler Fame :

From the 13. Sept and onward, missions will give you Fame. Fame gives things such as discount, various special missions, titles, and other cool stuff. But, it also results in people knowing who you are, and that might lead to assassination attempts and challenges, on you.

Wow... did i just sum up almost all of the game in that small hub of text? Neat! (tell me if i missed something) Ofcourse theres advanced rules too. Il add them later.

Spoiler Factions :

In the game, there are various factions you can do missions for. Ofcourse you can be a freelancer too.

The Sunwolf Tribe
The Sunwolf Tribe were having the tropical paradise of Inkita's West Coast for themselves until a big load of refugees from another land arrived. They are adepts at light magic, and teaches it willingly to anyone joining their ranks. When the Order of the Moon came along, something abit strange happened. Go read info in the Order of the Moon for more info on the Order of the Moon!
Bonuses: Anyone joining this faction learns Light Magic Lv1.
Terretories: The Sun Grove and The North Jungle.

The Wavebenders
The Wavebenders are a faction dedicated to water magic and runes. They are adept at escaping pursuers and silent assasination. They reside in the Tidecaller's Temple, a old ruin they found in the East Jungles. They are rumored to appear everywhere. Perhaps is cause they got a tunnel system from the temple to... anywhere? =) But well... if you manage to hit one of them, you kill him. Mostly...
Bonuses: Quick access to various places. Anyone joining learns Watery Grace Lv 1.
Disadvantages: Anyone joining gets the Fragility Lv1 debuff.
Terretories: The Tidecaller's Temple and The Underground Labyrinth.

The Everstriders
They stride the lands, never having a real place to reside, always preserving the earth where they can. Keeping it in line. Preventing curruption. All groovey.
Well... no. They actually dont just wander mindlessly and are hippy types. Their true home, is a place called The Stone Forest. It is a... dimensional pocket. A little dimension all for itself. And in fact, all members of The Everstriders has strength and battle training equal to abit more than a imperial soldier. The Everstriders is the only faction that were NOT in any kind involved in the Magmawar.
Bonuses: They have their own dimension. Sweet huh?
Terretories: The Stone Forest.

The Brotherhood
The Brotherhood is a faction that only wants one thing: Revenge. They train in the dark arts, becoming masters of necromancy, shadow arts and demonic magic. They want to end the Rein of the Ashlord, and take back what they once had: Nokrath. Some say that their leader, Miss. Ilia, is an old freind of The Black Spectre.
Bonuses: No Matter what class you are, Necromancy, Demonic Magic or Shadow Arts can be taken as a free starting ability.
Terretories: Nokrath II, The City on the Shore.

The Order of the Moon
They resisted for too long. The Order of the Moon is the followers of Sillien, a extremely active god near the time of the Ashlord's attack. They fought against him almost till they were wiped out. They resisted too long. Now they reside with the Sunwolf tribe in Inkita, since strangely enough, Sillien and Alsok, The Sunwolf, have came along quite well. Actually alot more well than that. Actually there popped out abit of minor gods. But well. With their new union with the Sun god, the Order of the Moon is now growing again.
Bonuses: None. Yet ;) They need to grow strong again first.
Terretory: The Sun Grove (Guest. Kinda.)

Abilities can be obtained through ability points. Everytime you complete a mission, you obtain one. You can then spend it on a ability that your class can learn. You can see in your class description what starting abilities you can get. Choose one of those for a starting ability. Also remember that you dont master a ability just by learning it. You can spend more ability points on a ability to upgrade it. Thats usually a good idea.

Frenzy: Allows you to go into a blood rage after a kill. This ability is mostly usefull when fighting a group.
Charge: Well... allows you to charge at high speed. The usual =)

Spoiler Prestige Classes :

Ritualist
Spoiler :
Abilities:
Materialize Spirits: Materializes a spirit in the mortal plane, allowing it to take form of a animal or mythical creature, or perhaps just its normal spirit form. (nomatter what it will still be shining teal and transparent). The spirit will attack foes of the Ritualists choice, or perform other tasks, depending on the situation.

Mind Powers - Offensive: Allows your conciousenes (not spirit) to leave your body and attack other peoples minds, with either headache, spasms, intense pain or maybee even madness as the result. As with most other magic, the ease of this act depends on the targets will powers.

Spirit Weapons: Allows you to materialize one or more spirits (depending on your skill and willpower) as a weapon. This Spirit Weapon ignores armor, but strikes at the mind and not at the body. (wich means that it decreases willpower and the ability to resist magic). Normal weapons and shield can still block theese weapons though.

Warnings:
Do not attempt to materialize spirits that are too strong for you. Might be your doom.

Loremaster
Spoiler :
Abilties:

Lore:
Allows you to attempt to identify various creatures. You simply say/post (Lore Roll) in your story or text, and i will roll a D20. The Result depends on the dice number. Higher levels of this ability gives bonus on the dice roll. And hidden extra stuff are also somewhere in the higher Lore levels >=) This ability also allows you to identify items.

Control Magic:
Allows you to tempolarily sap a magic users energy. While the effect lasts, the magic user cannot use magic, and all of his/her energy will be used for healing your wounds. Or powering your own magic, if you want too. If target has too much willpower, or your ability level is too low, the spell fails.

Tame Mythical Creature: If you got a good result on a lore roll, you can use your lore of the creature to tame it, unless it is "Intelligent". This is a great way of making pets.

Spoiler Faction Rankings :

Theese are the various rankings you can acheive. The bonuses they give you depend on your class, and ofcourse the faction, and some ranks are like a unlockable prestrige class. You can rise in the ranks by doing missions or warzone battle, and trust me on this: ITS WORTH IT.

Story:
Beria was a beautiful woman livin in the small town of Iria. One day, a demon who wished for an offspring that would help him take over the demonic plane chose her as the future mother of his son, and thus seduced her under the guise of a handsome man, which he acquired through his magical arts. She was soon made pregnant by the demon and he started to make plans for the eventual transfer of the woman to the demonic plane.

However, he didn't take into account that the son Beria carried in her uterus would give her special powers that would help her defend herself. It was with these powers that Beria recognized that the "man" was, in fact, a demon, and ran away in the dead of the night, while the demon slept. Reaching the port of Iria, she paid for a passage and crossed the sea towards the land of Inkita, where she sought the help of her brother Liam, a magician of the Sunwolf Tribe. He hid her from the evil demon with the help of his fellow magicians.

Eight months later, Beria gave birth to what appeared to be a healthy baby boy, but soon it was obvious that it was the offspring of a demon. The most fanatic among the Sunwolf Tribe wanted to kill the child, but Beria and Liam stopped them, promising that they would teach him the way to light and to control his demonic part.

When he was five, the young boy was taught meditation by Liam's mentor, Naize, who was also one of Liam's best friends and thus was able to see Riastey for what he was: a boy, sure, a half-demon boy, but a boy nonetheless. Meditation helped Riastey to control his anger and to channel it for better use in combat. His nature made him inclined towards the ways of the Warrior, but his uncle would also teach him magic so that he could be better versed in other arts and didn't have to rely on the strength of his arm and weapon of choice. It wouldn't be until he was fourteen that he officially joined the Tribe as a warrior, although he was an experienced warrior. Several small missions helped him temple his best abilities, for ten years, until the great moment came.

Background: Raised on a dwarven farm, which means mushrooms. That kind of living is hard, and generally unsociable, as most other youths are down in the mines, eating one's produce. Then came the time when Derine must complete the Task of Manhood. Unfortunately, he failed, and was cast out of the mountain. There he wandered to the nearest city, and was horrified at the lack of reserve in the dwaves who had taken up residence there. It was then he vowed to live on the surface as dwarves should, quiet, reserved, thoughtful while in the company of others. But he also knew he must complete some kind of heroic act to be once again accepted not only by his family, but by all of dwarf-kind. He may have failed the Task, but he was competant with an axe, often defending crops from from Giant Worms with his father.
Organisation Bonuses: N/A

They will even wear them in buildings, although not done up, as there is the belief that the 'protection' from the outside is not enough.

[More Later]

Lucas stumbled out of the burning ruins. He was numb with pain from the fire, and his skin was covered in dark, hot ashes. He looked back at what had been his home for sixteen years, all of his life. It was a smoking ruin. He could catch a glimpse of his little sister's limb body, and he could still recall the screams of his mother as the carrying bar of the roof fell on her. He reaches out his hand in the air in front of him and speaks to himself. "I... I survived?"

A single tear runs down his cheek, carving a small trail in the ashes on his cheek. He blinks. The well-trained muscles under the cover of ashes spasms in shock and grief, and he falls to his knees, swearing revenge upon whoever is to blame for the murder of his family. He finds his small knife and clutches it desperately in his hand as he staggers towards the city, a grim determination having settled in his mind.

The city streets had just won another agonized soul.

Man DE, youre fast ^^
You can make up for yourself how you get on the ships to Inkita (the new land) and what happens afterwards until game start. The game starts about 10 years after reaching Inkita.

Life. What is life? The twitching of muscles? The firing of nuerons? No, It is something much greater. That I know, for I have been to edges of death and beyond. I see that you are rolling your eyes, thinking that surley this man is a crackpot. How do I know? I am the last creation of the great necromancer Tsu Tsee, in his search to create life, true life. He took a dead body, and infused it with shreds of others souls. But something must have went wrong, when I awoke he was on the floor burnt to a crisp, assasinated by rivals. I heard footsteps and bickering. So I scooped a book from a shelf and ran.

(Yay zombie necromancer!)

Now THAT has plot possibilities!
(no offence people)

Well. I guess I am calling dibs on Sillien again. She was my invention after all :p

Well, not really. But still

Unless you got her from somewhere else, shes your invention =P

Name Sillien was from Lineage two (actually, it was Shillen there). But the other details are mostly mine.

A head rolled on the floor. A human, or at least, what he seemed to look like, just stared siliently. He opened his mouth. "You'll pay for that."

The knight laughed and did a mock salute.

He didn't forsaw that the other human would choose at this moment to lunge.

He didn't forsaw that the other human may not be as helpless as the one he had killed.

He didn't forsaw that the human may not have been human.

The last thing that the soldier noticed was that one of the human's eyes were blood red.

.....

Even before the knight's body fell, Beresa clutched his friend's head. "Goodbye Zack," he whispered and lay the head on the ground. He could hear the other soldier's footsteps approaching. Beresa jumped through the window just as the soldiers came in. Beresa ran.

He didn't know how far he had went when he collapsed on the ground. He realized that he had nothing to live for anymore.

When he woke up, he realized that he was on a ship. A man cloaked in black robes was sitting next to him. "Wake up, sleepy head," he said with a smile.

"Who are you?" whispered Beresa. "I am not that important," the man said. "You on the otherhand. You are not human, right? No bother talking. I already know."

"Where are we going?" Beresa moaned. "ZACK!" He suddenly screamed and leaped out of the bed, only to collapse on the floor.

"Your friend?" There was no pity on the man's voice. "Yes."

"Looks like we are on the same side, then. I lost a lot of friend to...them."

"Could you at least tell me what kind of person youare?" Beresa asked.

"I?" the man whispered. I am nobody. I just chase after the moon."

He had succeeded in finding more out about the world, it's customs and ways. But more impotantly had learned of a faction called the Order Of The Moon. Not very powerful but could be a good starting point, and who else would hire a zombie? He had heard that they were taking shelter at the sun grove, only a few days journey away.

In the distance was large grouping of huts surrounded by a wall. A small sentry tower rising above the grouping.
"Who goes There!" A voice shouted from behind the wall.
"I wish to join The Order Of The Moon!" he yelled back

The doors opened, and bolts of magic struck him immediatly.

When he came to he was in a small modest room, the door opened. "I hear you wish to join us, follow me, we shall begin the trial now,"

The stranger fared well and passed the trial, gaining entrance to the faction.
