Would it be possible to make a modern military advisor with an M35 style KEVLAR helmet? I think that would be awesome and sort of give us a look at what a modern German Wehrmacht would have looked like lol!

Nothing really! I just love the M35 helmet...it's style is so German lol! Personally if I had a choice between our U.S. PASGT Kevlar helmet and an M35 Kevlar helmet...I would pick the M35 anyday simply because it has that design element that makes it so attractive and appealing to me!

Sorry about reviving old threads...I didn't know about the whole requesting thing. Really I am sorry!!!

Hi guys !!

Well strictly speaking the thread isnt thaaaaat old anyway ;)
And I have to agree- an army helmet is really chosen to give its bearer a certain look and identity with it, apart of the protective features (and there is nothing more German looking than the M16 or the M35 :D)

Regarding your question:
I was really thinking about making one some weeks back- but with the standard US Kevlar helmet in use with the Bundeswehr (it looks just slightly different to that worn by the US military). I doubt that it would be very differently looking in-game, though. Another problem is the lack of sources for helmets in varying positions (I took the M35 from a movie- which spoiled the pallette considerably too).

Tell U what- I'll look around and if I see something good I'll C what I can do ... :)

Yay!!!

Thats the one problem bothering me...why won't the Bundeswehr have their own "modern" M35 helmets? You can't REALLY call the M35 a "Nazi" helmet because the basic design goes back to WWI. The M35 was simply shortened a bit to give it a better look for the then "modern" german army. I just think the M35 has it's own superior traits to compete with any PASGT helmets in use with foreign militaries.

@W.i.n.t.e.r: Great graphics! Only request from you is, though, to post a .gif version of the graphics, maybe? Because .jpg isn't doing much good to the .pcx files :)

Oh no, has nothing to do with them Nazis- actually the designer of both helmets (M16 and M35- even the M42) is the same person. The M16 was made for the German and Austrian Imperial armies (the Irish amongst other nations also adopted it- mainly to differenciate themselves from the English- and to "piss them off").

I'd enjoy a proper German design out of modern materials but I think Kevlar is a US patented product... well they are increasingly being built in license abroad, many with differences in details...

--------

good point, SpincruS- will do so in the next one... :D

Even so...Germany should use the Kevlar material and shape their helmets following the M35 shape. THOUGH an M35 Kevlar helmet MAY look like the U.S. PASGT...atleast the helmet would be GERMAN! I don't know why I am such a fanatic about that helmet but frankly I just LOVE IT!

I hope that W.i.n.t.e.r. can come through with a modern M35 Kevlar Military advisor. THOUGH the helmet may not look so different from the U.S. PASGT, atleast it is an M35! W.i.n.t.e.r. may have to create the helmet by scratch because I know that none exist in real life so he is going to have to use what he can from the PASGT and model the M35 on that helmet.

I hope that this time you didn't end up taking it from a movie lol! I guess that can explain why the helmet is not very straight on the advisor.

I guess I won't really complain about how cock-eyed the helmet looks on the Industrial age military advisor even THOUGH I am very picky when it comes to organization and appearance! I am sure the German military would agree with me on this one in the case of that military advisor lol!

I know you put your heart into it W.I.N.T.E.R. but I hope you are joking right? Personally I don't know the magic behind doing such graphics but I must admit that the helmet looks God awful!

Personally that helmet doesn't even look like an M35 but more like another PASGT drawn over a PASGT! However unless someone builds a damn Kevlar M35 we really can't know what the damn thing will look like... (Sigh) Is there anyway that I could send you a drawing of my idea of what a Kevlar M35 would look like? I don't have a scanner so this is the problem lol! Basically you make another M35 but since it is covered with the Kevlar material...it's going to be more "Thicker" than the steel M35. I know what it might look like but it sure as heck won't look like the PASGT! The ear guards pop out at the sides where-as an M35 has a curved ear guard that blends in with the whole helmet. I can't explain it I just have to draw it for you!

WAIT! There was an excellent unit in this PS2 game who had the M35 and it could pass for a Kevlar version!!! This is a screenshot from the game Ring of Red...could this help you W.I.N.T.E.R.?

I might be able to find some art of late M42s with cammo... hmmm... will see (in the meantime I suggest you use the present one- too bad there doesn't exist a civ-specific advisor file so different civs could have differently-looking advisors :()
