Macemen use flails

the Wiki article linked above said:
A variation of the flail is called a chain mace. It composes of a long chain usually wrapped in leather or another protective material, and has a steel ball at the end of the chain.

Perhaps not a misnamed unit, then? And BTW, I always thought the weapon weilded by Civ macemen was a mo(u)rning star. Thanks, Wikipedia, for the education.
 
The Flail and Mace aren't exactly Medieval weapons - my Great Grandfather served in the Durham Light Infantry in Flanders 1914-1917 (til he was gassed) and both were used in trench warfare - they have them on display in the Regimental Museum!

Flail and Mace are Medieval Weapons...
But it's not impossible that they were used in modern wars too... but they are still medieval weapons.
Macemen's weapon are not a morning star but a flail. (see Diablo I ..)
