OK, so Civ III is out for the Mac - or is it? MacSoft's site still shows it as being released in February and the "Buy Now" link on the Civ III page goes to a site that isn't carrying the game. You would think it would be impossible for Civ III Mac to be a flop, but it appears MacSoft's marketing folks are trying real hard. There goes the publicity from the release at MWSF.

:D That sounds about right...seriously I learned a long time ago to never bother wtih their web site its' always years behind and never worth the bandwidth...

I live in Canada, and I was hoping to find out when it would be shipped to stores. I called the store to find out when it would ship, but they could not even tell me when it would be arriving at their store.

The salesman's first response was that he didn't even think it had been ported yet. I found it hard to believe that the store (which sells nothing but Mac stuff) had not even received notice that it would be coming soon.

I shouldn't complain too much. When the mac version was first announced, it was said late February or early March, so this truly is ahead of schedule. It's just frustrating that nobody seems to know exactly when it will be arriving in stores.

Yes, I have been monitoring MacSoft's page for a while now, and it is completely out-of-touch. When you click "buy" for any title, it transfers you to GameStop--a site which doesn't carry a good selection of Mac Titles.

It is likely that GameStop must pay Infogrames for that transfer link. However, MacSoft/Infogrames would do much better to actually monitor where each of the games they are advertising are actually available and link to the appropriate site (all of the below sites would appear to be a more appropriate choice).

Incidentally, either CivFanatics or Apolyton (I can't remember which) links Civ III Mac to EB Games, where the title is *also* not available!

Here is a list of sites that seem to be aware of Mac Civ III:

You do NOT have to order a subscription to their games CDs but the way they have the site setup I can see why that mistake was made. Also, the CD comes every 6 weeks, for a total of 8 times a year.

Thanks for the post Rustus. Oh well, I just called Chips&Bits and they told me my copy went out in the mail today. So I wasted $10.

I'm sorry if I misinterpreted their page, but when I tried to pre-order, I thought their language made it pretty clear that to pre-order games requires a subscription to their game CD. Yes, I'm sorry it is 8 CDs/year, not 12.

Hallelujah! MacSoft finally noticed that they shipped Civ III - 22 days ago!
