Mad Greeks

Now, I'm in this game on the world map scenario by Satya - I'm the English, and I've started on the British isle. The Indians are on north America, the Russians are on south Africa, the greeks are on north Africa, and the Americans are in China - which allowed me to take over all of Europe, and to reach Turkey with modernised cities. :D
Anyway, the Greeks - which I had a border with them in south Turkey - annoyed me, so I signed a mutual protection part with the Indians (the second strongest nation after me) and with the Americans, and launched an offensive against the Greeks. They had a lot of army - much more than mine, but I had modern armor, while their best unit was cavalry. And I could built massive armies in 3-4 turns thanks to my superior industrial power. Anyway, I smashed the Greek forces - which was mainly spearmen - with 3 modern armors and two stealth bombers - and then I attacked them, and captured city after city - but they called the Russians to help them - they had a mutual protection pact - and the Russians, which had quite nice technologies - they could built bombers and infantry - smashed my two ivory and rubber cities in south-west Africa (Ivory coast) using aerial bombards. I've tried to contact the Russians, but they didn't wanted to talk to me. And in order to reach them, I had to conquer most of Greece. So I did that. And reached Russia. And captured two big Russian cities - thus losing my own unit in the whole war, a wounded modern armor that was ambushed. Anyway, after capturing the two Russian cities (and launching an ICBM on them - hi hi), I have signed a peace treaty with them. But the Greeks annoyed me. First, it was very temting to capture their low-tech poorly defended few cities. And second, they ambushed James - the leader I got - and killed him! So I conquered all of the Greek cities in Saudi Arabia, and went to north Africa, to conquer their last two cities. By the way - about Indian and American help. Well, the Indian fleet, consisting mainly of ironcalds - and later, destroyers, did a lot of trouble to the Russians, but the Americans only sent a few cavalry units using their "silk road" - a road that was upgraded to a railroad they've built - spreading from their cities in China straight to their colonies on little Asia.
And to the point of the story! After destorying all of the Greek cities, they had one built far away from me (very annoying!) - south-west of the Americans, near my Uranium city west of China. So I sent a few modern armors to their only city, and threaten them that I will destroy them. And what did the idiots tell me? They were furious, and they told me that they will never agree to a peach treaty and to them paying me a small tribute of 2 gpt (that was about what they could give me)! And I had 4 modern armors near their only city, defended by only two riflemen! Stupid Greeks!

yeah ive had similar experiences with the romans. I started off next to them and 2 other civs on a continent after taking the other civs out and leaving rome with only 3 citys with no improvements my people were close to war werriness so i got all i could out of rome and signed a treaty at this point I had calvery and riflemen to romes leginarys and 2 citys. after 6 turns rome ask me for a tribute of 156 gold, worldmap, and currency. I say no so they declare war on me I then quickly kill there guys and take one of there last citys after I desroy all their improvments in their last city I get peace again. but you guessed it 8 turns later they declared war on me with one spearman I finaly whiped them off the map. On a side not Rome allways acts crazey on my game wanting war no matter what so If I start near them I hit them hard first and take them out.:scan:

First of all, and I have said this many times before in other threads, if you are countering cavalry charges with modern armor, you need to play on a higher level. Second, what exactly did you expect the Greeks to give you? With their one city they obviously had a booming economy:rolleyes: ! Of course they were furious, and they probably didn't trust you either, since you did attack them. Dude. Please play on a higher level. You have obviously mastered this one(Chieftan, Warlord?).

Wouldnt they accept a peace treaty alone? You asked for 2gpt. If the computer doesnt 2 gold income per turn then it wont accept it. Just like it will go to war if it runs out a resource it agrees to trade you.

As for being next to egypt bah, I feel sorry for you. Morons always send war chariots at my tanks.

If you have ever played a civ game before, chieftan is only useful to learn how to do everything. Personally, I played one chieftan, two warlord, and one regent before moving to monarch, which is where I have stayed.

I HATE to start new games after completing games where my civilization were modernised and big - it's so annoying to start from scratch... Anyway, I started a warlord game, but got too annoyed after the Zulus finished the Great Library one turn before me, so I quitted it. But the game went quite okay, actually... :)
