Well friends, I will be back in Civilization V to present another series of Role Play Challenges (RPCs) to butcher our beloved leaders while providing an educational aspect to the game (at least educational for myself at first).

If you are new to my RPCs, basically I take a leader, impose my own set of rules to provide an interesting and entertaining story line, and play it out myself posting screenshots, adding enlightening dialogue, and strategic principals. These rules generally add an extra dergee of difficulty, usually 1-2 levels. Sometimes they are historical (The Khan's overrunning the world and razing cities), sometimes anti-historical (the war-monger Gandhi), or simply challenging (a three city culture victory). I do not promise to win all the time, but I promise some fun.

Summaries of the past Civilization IV Classic and Next Generation RPCs are linked in my signature, and as you can I finish what I start.

So I have the game on order and will start once I learn the basic rules, likely on Nobel and hopefully move up to Immortal which is where I finished CiV, hey perhaps old Mad can ascend Dietyhood.

SO the point of this thread, other than to make an early plug for my RPC series :D , is to get general ideas on RPCs that you people would be interested in, particularly as I have to wait a week or two until I get my game as the wife got a good sale on-line but I have to wait  a bit.

Please, all ideas will be considered and welcomed, do not be shy. If you think my series is a total shambles, feel free to let me know, I will be happy to ignore it! Many past RPCs were brainstorms from the Civfanatic Community that I was able to create an RPC for (some of my most successful one too).

I have the pilot idea in my head at the moment and will post it in the next entry.

SO here we go again!

The American Cowboy Abandonned

My idea for the first RPC is playing one of my favorite historical leaders, George Washington. Also, hell I am American and want to show the glory (or folly) of my country. In Civ IV I played him as the womanizer in search of a wife which probably had old George rolling in his grave. Unfortunately I lost that RPC (well technically it was one of the very few I never finished) so I feel a need to resurrect old George and do him proud (especially at an easier difficulty level :D ).

SO I have read enough to understand America's "trait", or whatever it's called is Manifest Destiny. I like it, and so does the ever expanding Americans! Also I would like to throw a little bone in honor of my long gone Dad who was one of the biggest fans of Westerns! For those of you not familiar with the term, it's an American film type of movie dealing with Cowboys, outlaws, gunfights, horse rustling, and taming to old west of the USA.

So Big George is coming to town on his horse (OK, maybe walking depending on the new rules) looking for the new game in town. HIs job is to build an empire across the entire continent, completely under American control in a truely tough western approach attitude. It's the American Manifest Destiny! What does control mean? Well I think I need the rules first, but you get the idea. As far as other continents, well Washington always believed to leave them alone, thus I will also.

So GW needs to win somehow after controlling his home continent but NOT expanding to others (nuking them would be satisfactory though, we are Americans after all!).

So ideas????

Nice to see you on civ 5 mad myself I will be doing an ALC similar to the one Sisutil did on CIV4 so I hope to see you posting in my game threads I know I wil post on yours.

Regarding George Washington yes that´s an intersting ideia keeping to youre home continent however might I suggest an added rule. Never trade with England or look to make England a puppet.

Glad to have you on board, and yes I plan on posting in others walkthroughs.

Washington actually was rather pragmatic and favored trading with England even though he fought the King for 8 years. What he did not want was to get involved in European wars. So perhaps a rule preventing him from attacking other continents is valid. Of course in America is attacked first "a la Pearl HArbor type" then let's bring it on.

Heya mad scientist (or is that Nicolas Tesla in disguise?).

Got quite a chuckle out of some of your cIV games...

Was thinking a crazy diplomat game could be fun. Not sure which leader... but something like small map (=4 civs) but with 24 city states. Have to win by diplomatic victory (maybe no declaring war and must accept peace if offered?).

That could be saved for either Greece or Siam because of their ablities.

Wooooo can't wait for the Civ V RPCs, mad! I'm getting my copy unlocked tonight when I get home.

The Manifest Destiny one looks like a good start. I'm thinking you're going to have to have a proper war game with Japan and its Bushido trait. Once I get the game and play around I'll come up with some more ideas.

However, one game that must be re-done is the Gandhi RPC. Gandhi 2 - "Gandhi is back and he is not taking crap from anybody."

Yes, I am 99% certain this will be on the menu in Civ V. However, do I plan on mastering the warring aspect (I was a PAnzer General devote before Civ IV) before this RPC.

Actually I am old enough to have played Panzer General as a board game before personal computers were around, but I think it was called Panzer Leader (and Squad Leader) back then.

Rule: All new cities must be settled to the West of your capital. Continue expanding until you find a coast, eliminating any indigenous civs in your way.

Oh no! He's Back!!!!

Go Mad!

RP Rule: No peacetime alliances for Washington, "avoid foreign entanglements".

Having read all of your pervious RPCs and not yet having my own copy of Civ V, I cant wait to see you start this up. Good luck Mad

I go back to Panzer Blitz, often called "Panzer Bush" because of the tactic of scooting your tanks across wide open fields from one wooded area to another so that you could not be targeted by your opponent because he could not "see" you. Civ V's hexagonal map layout brings back many memories of old Avalon Hill board games.

Yes, that is what I look foreard to the most, similarity to those old Avalon Hill bookcase games, although finding a good opponent was much harder than jacking up the difficulty of these computer games.

But I also remember the old Tactics II board games with the Blue and Red capitals! Hell, we used to have brutal weakly risk games that sometimes lasted monthes. Ah good times, good times.

I definately think you need to play an "alexander, lord of the city states" game where you play as the greeks with max city states on and need to get as many of them as possible happy with you then win a diplomatic victory.

I was wondering if the RPC's and ALC's would make it across to the ciV forum, so well pleased to see that they will.

Keep them coming chaps, it gives me something to do when i'm stuck in the office!!
