You could easily take their cities on your continent and leave them both to the one city they have on the other continent.

I could do that, but there's that little happiness problem (I don't have enough given their high pop cities) and well, time. Grinding them down can be useful, but it's not going to make for 'great' LP materiel.

I was going to suggest using the MoV to gain influence with Geneva instead of Hanoi (either that or steal Antananarivo just so it would stop getting captured ;) ).

BTW, I think you still have Whales you haven't hooked up yet over on the eastern side of your territory.

yeah, that poor city state is a waste land by this point.

yeah, there's definitely whales in the area, but I still have one hooked up and trading them isn't really a priority anymore.

Could the next LP be for some warmongering civ? Venice is fun, but it's quite clear how to play it, peaceful 3-city start is also easy, but warmongering and expansion in BNW look like issues.

Great LP MD. Only 10 eps in and I'm really enjoying it.

It's funny because I've been paying attention to every little detail trying to improve my game and I still have no idea how you managed to make Venice such a production powerhouse so quickly. What did I miss? In my games it takes me an entire playthrough to reach that level of production. You did so without sacrifcing growth or specialist slots too. I know you had some internal trade routes but I think most of it was from the city itself.

Also really impressed with how you defended against the Arabs. They marched on your capital with a pretty sizeable army and you easily defended them despite looking like you were heavily outnumbered at points.

Keep up the great work man. Would love to see you go for a science / culture victory in your next LP just to see how you approach it.

I'll definitely be making the rounds of the VC types for the first couple LPs, mainly to show off the different ways to get there.

Venice got high growth/production quickly due to both the internal trade routes and the fact that there was a lot of sea base resources that gave both hammers and food. Sea resources in volume (over 3) usually make a city very strong quickly.

The dirty little secret to this game is that the AI is bad at war and using their units in general, so there is no reason to fear their military outnumbering you. The case with Arabs attacking him early on was the classic scenario of what I'm talking about. Even at Diety level, there is just no reason to be scared of that situation; you can turtle out of it in a few turns, then turn the tide and go on the march, as long as you have basic defense and some production or gold to turn out units later on. Once you learn this trick, i.e., that the AI is usually never going to actually capture your cities (unless you do something really silly) your results will improve dramatically. You pick off the AI's units, wait it out, then take them down. And even in better in this situation was that they attacked him first so he didn't get the diplo penalty.

The more I get into the game the more I'm seeing this to be the case.

The penalty for war is less when you were DOWed first but I believe you do recieve the warmongering penalty for a little while if you go on the attack and take their cities. That's what happened to me in a recent game, although it didn't last for a long time or anything.

Hey, I've tried looking for your channel (which your Venice playthrough was recommended to watch) and it's not there...did you delete your channels and playthroughs or did you change your channel name? Would love to watch your content!

Does the back to the past machine help? I heard there is web page that enables you to see web pages how they were on specific dates and it seemed to work some years ago. I dont remember the web page URL anymore. Does someone?

I haven't tried but I doubt it very much. There's no reasonable way to make a YT replica in effect while doing that to just text is relatively cheap.
