Looks awesome! I was going to request a maelstrom in the future, for a scenario for my mod later on. I was going to use it animated over the resource for a portal to the elemental plane of water. Now I don't have to request it.

I have added a gif animation of the Maelstrom default to the 'download' web page. Just double click the blue image to view the animation.
I have tested the maelstorm in my scenario and it blends quite well with various sea colours.
