Mafia forum?

I was thinking...what if, rather than having one 400+ post long thread, what if there were a separate All Other Games subforum for Mafia games? It would really help if there were threads for votes for executions, murders, general discussions, and the like, rather than having to wade through a huge thread where posts happen once every few minutes. Since we have subforums for Colonization, Diplomacy, etc., I see no reason why the Mafia games shouldn't get their own subforum too. If this is rejected, I would like to know the reason why it was rejected.

Mafia is deleted as soon a game is completed correct?

It seems silly to have a single thread subforum.

There will definitly be more than one thread though, with accusations, evidence, ETC. I agree on making a new sub-forum.

Colonization and Diplomacy: aspects of a game we all know and love.

Mafia: to my knowledge, not uttered once in the Civilopedia.

Add to this the fact that the Mafia threads won't stick around for long(as Immortal states) and you can see why TF would probably not wish to invest in a "disposable" forum.

But, wait. Maybe if you change the game's title to Corruption.......

It wouldn't so much be a disposable forum...if we have a new forum for it, we can keep the old mafia threads around as well (unless webspace became a problem) and this would provide a good way to organize them. If the game ever expands into multiple threads on its own it will begin to clutter up All Other Games.

And as far as your other points...Alpha Centauri isn't mentioned in the Civilopedia except in the spaceship victory part, and what in the world do Chess and Master of Orion have to do with Civ?

I honestly think this would be a good idea, and would allow the Mafia games to expand quite a bit.

All those games had the demand for their own sections. Once their use dwindles, they will porbably be archived or condensed.

Just the fact that there have been 6 mafia games completed, all of them using one thread each, shows that more threads aren't really needed. If more threads really are needed I doubt 'cluttering' the other games forum with one or two more threads is a major concern, but I would still check with the Mods before doing any of that. They will need to determine if those extra threads are needed.

That doesn't mean that TF won't consider making a sub-forum for it, but it does show that it is not really needed for the game to continue as is.

Good points, DoM. But what if the mafia games were just trying to keep it neat? I don't play Mafia, doesn't sound like my kinda thing. But I can see where the players would keep it in one thread so that it sticks together for the game.

At the risk of inciting a spam fest, I would suggest to the Mafia game players to start creating a thread for general discussion, accusations and see how it goes. If it because to spammy, the go back to one thread. Or if it works out, maybe a small sub-forum would be in order.

Thunderfall once rejected a Console Games Subforum, saying that the All Other Games Forum needed a lot more posts. What makes you think a Mafia Subforum will be any different?

If it was to have its own Forum/sub Forum, i think it would make the Mafia game too formal. I like it as it is Also since they get deleted, there is no point IMO.

There are other sub forums there and they are not all that active either so its not that unreasonable for hoping to get a sub forum for a particular game.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the Mafia thread is more active than any of the subforums. I've noticed that Thunderfall hasn't been at all enthusiastic about creating new forums; is that because it would be taking up too much webspace or what other reason?

I don't see anything wrong with the idea, but I don't think it's necessary. Unless things have changed since the good ol' days of Mafia thread #2, IMO one thread is enough. If you take part in the mafia game, you should read all the posts, right? Why does it make a difference if they're all in one thread or all in several threads in one forum?

Uh... the All Other Games mod (Matrix) already mods the Mafia thread. Why would it be any different if it were made into a new forum?
