That is a good way of thinking those things. I like this approach. Now I imagine having some crazy underrated brazilian leaders there - someone already mentioned that Minas Geraes UU could be a hint for Floriano Peixoto as an alt leader, more militaristic Brazil. It would be an insane and highly controversial choice, I guarantee.

How so? The dll for those was released after development was done.

Civ V DLL was released after Gods and Kings. Before Brave New World. Them taking so long this time brings on the nightmare possibility of it never coming out

Artists are nosy lol. They try to get a good spread of visual looks. I wonder who designed Montezuma I.....:p

Originally had feathered cloaks on Kupe, but they wanted animation. Tassels too. Technical animators are :cringe:.

I noticed that too. But I can imagine people would rather see the game itself than people talking about the game ...

nop, civ4 DLL was released months before the first expansion, and civ5 DLL was released 6 months after the first, so some months before the second and the end of development.

I don’t think anything has happened that would give the impression that Firaxis is less open to people modding their games than in the past. It’d probably be nice if they just said, though.

Huh. Well, I figure them not releasing the dll for civ 6 yet is a good sign. I take it as them still working on it.

They tried to project confidence with Kupe.
    Kupe leaked photo. lol.

Kupe's necklace-nod to the Kupe story, fight with the great octopus. Heavily abstracted. Subtle nod.

Artists do not determine where the Firaxis logo is on the leader. It's the modelers.

Wilhelmina has one in the umbrella!!!!

I know some civ players, including myself, sometimes wish civ were more historically realistic, especially when it comes to game play mechanics. I don't think any player wants the history in the game to completely follow real history but we hope for mechanics like disease or city loyalty or governments to work in a realistic way. But the truth is that civ has always been a 4X strategy game, basically where you research techs, build cities and units and either build up your cities with wonders and structures or conquer your neighbors. The history part is just the background to inspire the player because it's more fun building the "Great Pyramids" than building "Wonder #12". History is just the dressing to give the game flavor. Historical grand strategy games like EU and HOI are the opposite. Those games are about the history more than "fun" gameplay. That is why they recreate every nation, every unit, every government policy, every religious edict etc as accurately as possible. In fact, the fun really comes from the historical accuracy rather than the strategy per se.

It sure seems like they would enjoy continuing to work on Civ6 rather than a new game. In like the first 15 minutes of the stream they’ve mentioned numerous times how nice it is to have so much more freedom to create and innovate now that the base systems are all developed and put in place.

More freedom for leaders further back in history. Vs. Teddy Roosevelt/John Curtin (have to nail their likeness).

Kupe was fantastic to animate. Kat likes Eleanor turning around animation.
