PM sent to players.

sci leaders: OK?

settings id like:

random - 70% continents, with a wet, moderate, 4 billion land (lots of water, otherwise typical)

barbs: either raging or sedentary.

AI: 4 random civs, or we can choose to NOT make the the american, portos, etc.
for the AI agression level - normal. we dont want them to do anything too hasty, too early, do we ;)

level of game: monarch or emperor. lets make this a little tough.

civs id like to play:
dutch, china, japan....

Hey,

I'm In. Let the History Begin.

"Dr. Jonathan Chase... wealthy, young, handsome. A man with the brightest of futures. A man with the darkest of pasts. From Africa's deepest recesses, to the rarefied peaks of Tibet, heir to his father's legacy and the world's darkest mysteries. Jonathan Chase, master of the secrets that divide man from animal, animal from man... Manimal."

You need to call me Black Panther!!

"While Dr. Chase was meant to have the ability to change himself into any animal, in practice his onscreen transformations were almost always into a hawk or black panther..."

Here is the opening with the above introduction.

And yes I'm that old enough to remember this show. :groucho:

Random Lands & Water
4 AIs is great.
Civs I'd like Koreans or Vikings
Monarch

Please remember that screenies are your friend. ;)

Any questions ask. None will be turned away. Are we
48 hours GPS turns. Faster if possible?

We going to personalize this Game or did you do that already Soul?

******Warning******
I want to warn Tribute & Flyingkitty. I sometimes Rant.:gripe: Its
nothing personal. Take it with a smile. :) I have had to PM, email
& post that this kind of behavior is nothing personal. Its game stuff.
It will always be signed with my game name or Blaze Injun. If it is
personal I'll PM. I'll try to keep it private. Unless the group needs to
know. Example would be calling me a Liar or Cheat. Those only bring
:trouble:.

I have found that ranting about the game helps. You'll
never know what you will learn.

Anyway lets have a fun game. :mischief:

For a Game called Manimal it might be good for this Rule set.
Soul Warrior said:
Blaze, and everyone -

just to clarify the entire naming thing.

rules for names
1- city names.
when built you may name the towns ANY NAME YOU WANT.
you MAY NOT change that name later.

2- unit names
generic names are ok.
ASLONG AS THEY ARE CLEALRY LABELED.
examples of a valid type:
Yorktown SPears 1,<numbers are fine, and you can use these freely>
Soul's Riders (h), <h> is to denote HORSEMEN. change it to K when its upgraded.
default civ names, etc. - no change is good for all involved.

examples of BAD NAMES
soul's marauders - no details at all, unless you look at the stats. im usually too lazy for that...
misleading thorough a wrong name that will hide an attribute such as changing a knight's name to Medieval Infantry - given by BEF, this is beyond evil.
edit -
and DO NOT, EVER, change a units name drastically.
e.g. - souls riders H to souls riders K is ok.
souls riders to mambojive unit killer is NOT OK.

basic rule is:
keep those names constant.
keep them clear.
DONT make them misleading.

Civs I'd like to play in this game, in preference:
1) Celts
2) Sumeria
or if you don't want anyone playing Agricultural...
3) Egypt
Please let me know if you allow the use of scientific leaders for instant building wonders. If so, then my 3rd choice is Persia instead of Egypt.

As for game preferences:
Barbarians: Raging or Roaming, but anything rather than Sedentry
Level: Monarch is fine, but I will accept Emperor if 2 other players want that.
AI's: 4 is fine
Map: Continents+ 60% ocean (gives more room for expansion, especially for 2 civs on the same continent if they are going to survive until the end of the game)

48hrs per turn?! *flops on floor* Oh well, ok then! I can easilly manage to send a save once a day at least. This game isn't going to take 6 months is it? I don't really want to play a game that intends to take over 4 months.

I wish we could be playing one of my maps, they're pretty good. Oh well. Maybe someday.

Easy now little trooper :pat: don't flop to much. I can do a couple turns a day as well. 48 hours was for the slow peoples.

I would also use Accelerated Production to speed things along. Regicide
might be good to.

"scientific leaders for instant building wonders" Why not?

Blaze Injun

ooooOOO Regicide...and I thought no one played that!!
*used to play it all the time LOL*

I'm fine with Regicide or Mass Regicide, or without it.

As for no scientific leaders...I read somewhere that it's part of some generally accepted multiplayer PBEM code of only using them to build Forbidden Palace and buildings...which totally sucks. I don't see the point in playing a Scientific civ over a Religious one under such circumstances (thus my note on my 3rd civ preference).

ok, flying and blaze confirmed.

barbs - not sedentary.

prefered civs:
soul - dutch, china, japan
blaze - korean, vikes,
flyingkitty - celts, sumer, egypt

AI CIVS id like to see:
russia, india, aztecs :nuke:, byzantines, french, carthage.

i DONT want SCIENTIFIC leaders.

read rules quoted by blaze...

turn around is at a MAXIMUM of 48 hours.
we all prefer atleast 1 a day. ;)

level can be emperor (if tribute will agree), otherwise MONARCH.

blaze's blazing words are cool.
lets all keep this honourable, gentelmanly and friendly.

flyingkitty, if you have a nice map, i dont mind using it.
but ill want unanimous consent from all other players (blaze + tribute).
if we opt for your map, you'll open the game...

so, now we await tribute, and the the final tally of civs.

if you all want ill "allow" sci leader wonder rushes.

but you neglect the sci attribute of cheap libs, and faster reserch....

:king: regicide... hmmm. id rather it went mass regicede.
we dont want a fatal accident, do we?

accelerated production, BY ALL MEANS!!!!!

Hey,

I stand firm on this Rule.... :p

No Coastal Blocking. None! Never! :gripe:

You get players doing this Crap. This is even in a game without Amphibious units.
CoastalBlocking002.jpg

No Scientific leaders then.
Mass Regicide
Map? I don't care as long as its fair. Cheaters will be :spank:'d

Any rules wrote elsewhere are for a guide. Now is when we decide
on OUR rules.

1. Razing. I vote Yes to Razing. Any size city.
2. No Dogpiling.

Blaze Injun

edit-
ILL SECOND Blazes No Coastal RUle.that is plainly not fair.
garrison your towns, or trust your neighbours.

razing is cool.
if you cant protect your cities, you dont deserve to have them.

no dogpiling - ill refine the point.
you can have ONLY ONE ALLY in ANY WAR.
if you have multiple fronts, you can hire out 1 civ per front.
for example:
civ A is at war with civ B and civ C.
civ A can get ONE ally to fight civ B, and ANOTHER ALLY to fight civ C.

regarding AI alliances, id say - 1 AI = 1 front.
if you wanted them at war, but another nation grabbed them as allies VS someone else, thats tough.
if they are allies to your rival, feel free to buy them out and switch sides.
if they were to declare on you though....
thats ok.

I have several nice maps, but I guess it depends on what we're all looking for. Tribute has already seen 3 of the best ones, I'll detail them here for everyone:
Map 1 "Llanymede" (based on Enormous Ganymede map):
* Large map
* 2 poles (south/north), land bridge with continent on the vertical edge
* 5-6 city/double city sized islands along the northern coast, 2 islands along the southern coast (1 of which has uranium+ivory+saltpeter+horses).
* 50-60% land rather than the usual 30-40% of random maps! - but there is a rim of snow at the far end of each continent, so TONS of barbarians!
* Maximum conceivable expansion area for a large map: If a player starts in each corner, they will be able to gain as much land as they would in an entire continent on a large map! (so good for culture wins I guess)

Map 2: Archipelago-Continent map:
* Large map
* 5 continents: 2 are smaller twin continents and suited to seafaring civs, and will gain key control of the uranium spots in the nearby islands, as well as early contact with other civs. 1 is a super-continent (for the AI) shaped *similarly* to America+Canada I found from a random map and modified somewhat. 1 is the best section of a continent from a large map, and the other is the best continent from another map heavily modified to make a fantastic starting continent with only 1 other minor AI civ on it.
* 3 large islands (4+ cities one each) plus 2 small islands colonisable

Map 3:
* Medium map (not so scenic and a bit squashed, but meh!)
* 4 Continents. Worst one is not so good but has 2 uranium spots in tundra to compensate. 2 Large ones have AI civs on them, and 1 is liable to dominate. Smallest one is suited to a seafarer and is self sufficient when it comes to resources.
* 2 4+ city size islands with 2 uranium spots each, plus 2 desert barbarian islands (not colonisable) which are good for getting elites

Map 4:
* Large Archipelago Random map!
* THREE continents!!! 2 pathetic little islands!
* Will modify this after I get done writing this, to allow better starting areas should you wish this map to be modified

*correction* Map 4 mentioned has 2 islands in the huge version of the map...

The large version has 1 large island and 3 little ones...and 1 of those has uranium (another could be modified to have uranium too).

im leaning toward map 2, but i dont really care which map we use.

please send your emails to me (unless i have them already, BLAZE;))
troykemp AT gmail.com

we still have to choose some settings:
level- emperor or monarch?
barbs- raging? one less?
maps? i and blaze dont mind, kitty, just make it fair.

still waiting for tribute's choice of civs.
after that ill post a civ for each of us (ill choose from you preferences if possible)
i will make it as balanced as i think i can, and will post here so we can all agree on it.

also, if you have some preferred AI, NOW is the time to speak.

good night all.

Just going to send you the maps...depending on the map used, I'll recommend you take a certain civ e.g. I would rather you not use Dutch on map 1, and Japan might be best suited to this map out of your 3 choices because of the culture opportunity.

My preference is map 1, as I'm already playing map 2 in another 1-1 game, plus for seafarers map 1 has the little islands in the northern coast anyway. What I don't like about map 2 is there aren't many small islands, and the big islands are taken over by the small continents early on (but these could be taken by the early industrial age).

Level: Emperor is fine with me whatever map we choose
Barbs: Raging also fine with me, but 1 below raging is ok if we want to compromise

Sorry. I guess I'm 4-5 hours late or so?

My civ choices: Netherlands, Iroquois, Maya, Germany, Arabia.

Anyway, I'd prefer a random map. 130x130 is a bit big for me. It may take too long for us to complete a game in a map that size.

I'm fine with Emperor! I'd want less barbs (roaming), so I guess down a notch to compromise.

War rules sound fine. It's not like we should rely AI alliances anyway. And definitely no coastal blocking. (Unless it's an accident, of course. Like if that person is railing at that moment in time.)

And I'm a little uncomfortable with accelerated production (haven't played many/any games with that). I can play with it but it seems pretty scary to me. Regicide is fine, just be careful. Mass regicide could be troublesome. That's like starting with 8 scouts!!! However, no regicide seems just about the same as mass regicide to me.

Hey,

Smaller is fine. Random Map to get this going.

Sorry Flyingkitty. Lets get some turns in.

Map: Random
Level: Emperor
Barbs: Roaming or Sedentary
No Regicide of any kind.
No Scientific Leaders
No Coastal Blocking
Razing (Till the Smoke Blackens the Skies):smoke:
Accelerated Production. (It just speeds up the game nothing to Fear) :scared:

All other rules that come up.

Prefered civs:
soul - dutch, china, japan
blaze - korean, vikes,
flyingkitty - celts, sumer, egypt
Tribute - Netherlands, Iroquois, Maya, Germany, Arabia

I think Soul should get China & Tribute the Iroquois. :mischief:
And the Koreans & Celtic United!!!

Blaze Injun

I'm really disappointed this map is going to be small, and also random, so I can pretty much guarantee that someone (if not 3 players) are going to get the short end of the stick so to speak with a poor start (and not necessarily the starting spot, but the area around it). I mean, who finds these random maps, and who decides how it's modified? (If they are truly good, can they send me some? lol) I reckon I'd be great at modifying a random map, but I don't trust most others at doing so unless they like modifying maps and spend time doing so.

I'm not suited to small maps with no sci leaders (not that I really care about that but it'll bug me if I get one and can't use it) and everyone starting with a scout. That totally screws up what I'm used to.

All that said, I'm fine with the Celts and the other settings...what I'd like to know is what does Razing mean? Do I have to raze every AI city I invade? Do I have to raze every player city I invade? I should probably know before I start.

I mean, who finds these random maps, and who decides how it's modified?

The Map is created when you start the PBEM game. Nothing is modified.
Half the fun is Creating a Great Nation with a poor start. ;)

I'm not suited to small maps with no sci leaders (not that I really care about that but it'll bug me if I get one and can't use it) and everyone starting with a scout. That totally screws up what I'm used to.

This will be set to No Scientific Leaders. You'll never see them in the game.
Whats this about a scout. None of our chosen civs have scouts. If its about the AI having Scouts. Then place non scout Civs as AIs.
There will be alot of things your not use to in a PBEM. Individual Players
make for interesting times.

All that said, I'm fine with the Celts and the other settings...what I'd like to know is what does Razing mean? Do I have to raze every AI city I invade? Do I have to raze every player city I invade? I should probably know before I start.

Razing is burning a city to the ground. No. No. It is up to you if you raze.
Some of Us like the Raze. Some don't.

Also like to mention about Battle Reports.
ManimalReportexample.JPG

That might look overwhelming, don't worry about it. If you try a couple of times its easy. Just have fun.
