Maps for Mac

I have downloaded several maps (from the pc site) and some work fine, while others never show up. Is there a surefire way of knowing which is which ahead of time?

Which ones don't work, and what happens when you try?

Pure maps should work. More complicated mods probably won't work, for all the reasons that we've discussed around here - a custom CvGameCoreDLL.dll is the fatal one, but badly formed XML or incompatible Python code are other usual suspects.

I have one for Europe (Small Europe ver.1.1.Civ4WorldBuilderSave) that works, and a world one (Earth18Civs.Civ4WorldBuilderSave) that doesn't. They were downloaded at the same time, from the same site

Earth18civs is just a WorldBuilder file, so it should be fine.

I downloaded it here, unzippped it, put it in ~/Documents/Civilization IV/Saves/WorldBuilder/, and it loaded with no problem using Play Scenario from the vanilla version 1.74 main menu.
